I don't collect T Hunts but always look for (and don't find) them for those who do.

I always look for the treasure hunts, but have only found one. Ever. I think all the Hot Wheels guys know when the shipments come in.

I've seen store employees take the treasure hunt cars out of the HW cases and put them aside for the regular HW collectors. Never giving anyone a chance to find them. I have a feeling this is why we never see them.

I have showed up at TRU before with my kids when it opened one time. There was a group of about eight dudes waiting outside for them to open the door. As soon they unlocked the door, they all sprinted to the hot wheels section. They had to have been tipped off that they were putting a cube of new hot wheels out. Four of them attacked the cube while the other four riffled through the ones up on the pegs. They took all the Treasure Hunts in about 45 seconds and rolled out. My son just stared at them and didn't understand what they were doing. Meanwhile we just looked through the Disney Cars and didn't find anything new of course. That was the day I decided to not waste too much time looking for Treasure Hunts.
