I'm here in Hawaii. My Toys R Us Express opened up here a few days ago, they still have a Rip, francesca, on the pegs. (Also countless others, donna pitts, snort rod with flames, body shop ramone, nick stickers, etc.) I don't think many know the store exists….) Any valuable to pick up? Plus my walmart, target all have planes singles in stock, any extras worth grabbing?

Tough call. Rips value is plummeting as we speak. Another case release has 2 of him, so I think Rip won't be highly sought after much longer. Donna Pitts is a re-release, so I don't think that will bring in much. Snotrod with flames might be worth getting extra even if it is plentiful because people always want the tuners and the flames variation is pretty cool. Francesca may be worth picking up although she seems pretty plentiful so far for a chase car.
It also depends if you plan on trading much, which might be a bit tougher from Hawaii.

Pick up any classic characters that you can. This hobby is always getting new collectors because of young children liking these movies so much. Most new collectors want to get the core characters first before trying to pick up the background ones. Characters like Sally, Red, and Flo don't get released very often and if you are collecting for your child, its always good to have an extra in case they lose or break one. If you are looking for trade bait a few months down the road, Chase Cars are always good to get extras of because they aren't supposed to be rereleased. Welcome to the site Hawaiidude, I lived out there in the late 90's and loved it!

Agree with bobbyjack – the Cars that are always in demand are the main characters – with the exception of Lightning McQueen, Mater, and Francesco. Those 3 were so overproduced that we all seem to have boxes of them we can't give away for free. But cars like Flo, Sheriff, Luigi/Guido, Sally always do well. Fillmore is a great car but has been heavily overproduced as well so he is really easy to find.
Cars that are new and cute but not very canon to the movie have a short life span of attention from buyers. For example, Franca was the 'must have' car back in March. Now I leave her on the shelf when I see her. Francesca was a chase car and popular for a month – now no one cares about her. Donna Pitts and Jonathan Wrenchworths were 2 rusteze cars that people were excited to see back again but after several cases of both this year they are stale.
