OLD SCHOOL when you could go into the 5 & dime and they had a soda fountain with a little area with coin collecting books, stamp albums, models, the 1st Hot Wheels OK so I'm sorry old! That was the golden age of making me collect them all. So I ask what are the 1st day Issues for Cars? Is Boost & Snot Rods Movie Moments 2 Pk the 1st release and the International Supercharged Movie Moments 2pk of P.T.Flea &Flick being the 1st for them. Was the Salley with cone 1st issued as the Lane Mates or the late entry at the end of the World of Cars series. Does anyone have a born on date for the ever growing world of cars that are getting rereleased and bringing down the value of those 1st issues. Watch what happens to ( Frank, Todd, Chuck "choke" Cables ) they will fall out of the Top 25 Rare Ones. Being a completest I have collected every series & all releases and I still wouldn't sell my Frank for less then a $100.00. I hope new collectors can appreciate the history of the World of Cars. Thanks Thebreezz

You can always tell an older Car by the production date on the Car or the cardback. The cardback series indicates age as well.
The older cards, I have noticed WOC in particular, have a much better feel and the graphics are much brighter and of better quality. Blisters are thicker and stronger, etc. Part of the reason for being a carded collector is I enjoy just looking at the cards. Some of the character expressions on the cardbacks are awesome. NASCA Truck is one of my favorite cardbacks.
True, re-releases make some classic Cars less rare. That is good and bad, depending on your point of view.

I like the way you put that. That the card backs sometimes are a work of art. I have been enjoying getting the card backs that are International and only have the picture of the car. That brings up another question about what series are we in ?
In the 1st Cars we start with Desert Art then Supercharged WOW one of my favorites WOC was so so but they introduced the # system. RACE O RAMA and Final Lap great stuff and now with Cars 2 we have?
The 1st is Porto Corso and then WHAT 2013 & 2014 or am i missing the names for the new series. Thanks for talking Card Backs & 1st release of Cars.

After Porto Corsa, Met has coined the current series "themes". Look at the upper right corner of any current card. It will say Lemons, Radiator Springs, Piston Cup, Chase, Super Chase, Wheel Well Motel, et. al.
There are also the TRU Radiator Springs Classics, Kmart upcoming Target exclusives with special paint.
Also, the 2013 and 2014 cards are slightly different in that last year's were "Cars 2" and this year's are World of Cars.
This is all covered more in-depth in some of Met's posts.

The Cars 2 series now would be 1) Porto Corsa. 2) Cars 2 2013 Themes. 3) World of Cars 2014 Themes. I guess that will do, but I miss Supercharged & Race O Rama or Final Lap. As for the heart of this Post, is the international carded Porto Corsa Launcher of Rip Clutchgoneski the 1st release for him. What other note worthy 1st are their?

Yes, International Rip Launcher was the first release of Rip. I have 2, one from Europe and the first one I traded for from Australia.
I keep a list on paper of all first releases, have been doing this since July 2006 when I started collecting. I put a tiny post it note on the cardback with date acquired, price and where I bought each or traded for, along with the card and car stamped date code (so I can read it) for the unopened collection.
As for noteworthy, the very first releases dated from Jan 2006 when these hit the USA shores are the most important ones to me. My Wingo from 2006 is dated in January. There was a error date Sheriff with a 2003 ending date but that was a definite error in printing.

WOW ! BMW you are the best, this is the kind of story telling I'm looking for. I would love to spend a week at your house looking through your collection! I didn't get started collecting till the end of Desert Art & the beginning of Supercharged. I guess that's why I have worked so hard to complete the Supercharged series with the POSTER Carded ones and the International ones.
Another 1st release I'm not clear on is the Gold & Red rim release of Mario Andretti. Is it international, short card back, WOC, RACE O RAMA. Then their is that LUCKY member that has that Short Card one that has Red rims. Thebreezz

Anyone who was collecting that summer of 2007 recalls it as the "summer of no cars". Every store you went into had those recall signs posted near the service desks, and even though it was Sarge that was recalled, most stores pulled all Cars inventory off the shelves. case after case was cancelled and by the end of summer not many people had found any new cars to add to their collections. That was the situation when the famous last cases of Supercharged with Mario, Dale Ernhardt Jr, Darrell Cartrip, Bob Cutlass finally hit retail at the end of summer and EVERY one was out trying to find those 4 new Cars.
Dale Jr was available in both T and U cases while Mario and Cartrip were available in only U cases.
Seems to most of us back then that Mario and Cartrip SC's had lower runs.
A breakdown of the last runs and assortment of Supercharged ;
The T case had; Cutlass and Jr.
The U case had Cutlass, Jr, Mario, and Cartrip
So Mario and Cartrip had the lowest production run as they were only found in U cases, whereas Dale Jr and Bob Cutlass were in both T and U cases making them roughly "double the production".
Mario and Cartrip are great looking Cars and were very popular, they went quick and are probably (along with JR) some of the most sought after Cars in Supercharged packaging.
And of course these Marios were the mustard yellow wheels. In my opinion a SC Mario is worth much more than any on the later more abundant releases (like WOC, Race O Rama, ROR chase package with the corrected red rims, lenticular, and now Radiator Springs Classic,)
Yes on that short card error Mario. What may be a one of a kind.
The ROR chase package was the first red rim Mario release I believe.

There you have it Breez. Someone with a little knowledge, like me, shares what I know, then one of the True Sages adds much more interesting info. You learned something, I learned something, we are all better for it!
Thanks BMW!

Now that Mater with headset is out & the Kmart release was like special is the K mart the 1st issue or are they different. Do the International releases come out 1st like the Desert Art series without the name plate are before the releases in the U.S.

Question about Doc Hudson with Red rims. It was released in a Vertical 3 pack that is hard to find. Is that the 1st issue of that car? What about RED, what is the 1st release of him as a single? He was with Stanley in the Desert Art 2 pack, but is the Story Tellers release his 1st as a Single?

Rimmed Red Doc Hudson (name is Dirt Track Doc) in the WOC vertical 3 pack with Cactus McQueen and the Sheriff.
It was the *only* Doc Hudson with red rims ever released. So yes 1st and only release.
As for Red, ST Red was the first release in a single package by Mattel. But also at the same time there was a ST 3 pack release
with Guido and Luigi and Red.
