I was at a Disney Store yesterday and they had a single display package of the large-scale Lightning with Mia and Tia, as a sample of the ones that are coming November 1. While they're a little pricey at $150, I think they're a great value: they come in an acrylic display box with an actual revolving turntable. They're beautifully done, and there are lights and other embellishments too. Three cars at this scale for $150, especially licensed characters done this well, is not a bad deal. Not sure if the 30% off discount works with pre-orders for it, but there is that coupon offer if you pre-order the Cars 2 DVD set from them.
I'm not a Lightning guy, but for those of you who are, this is not to be missed. The Disney Store has done well by Cars 2, and the 30% off deal is great. I particularly noticed how well their versions of the spy-changer vehicles are done…painted eyes and just overall so much nicer than Mattel's…for the same price, and now 30% off.

Maybe it's just that I'm not really into the bigger cars, but I just don't see the allure- especially for 150 clams. Plus the addition of Tia and Mia doesn't make a lot of sense as a part of a high dollar C2 release.

I'd love to see that feature on a 1:55 exclusive.

I bought mine today. Couldn't resist. i've been contemplating it for about a month. I also talked the clerk to fork over the lithographs too, which she did. To my defense, when I first saw the display a month ago, the disney store clerk actually pulled out the lithographs to show me and insisted they were included with the pre-order…well…they are included with the pre-order, but for the "movie" pre-order.
the folio they come in is totally awesome and it is heading for the large format scanner at work 🙂
looking forward to novemebr 1. Will be there first to have the pick of the lot. This store is only getting 4.
now the only large scale car I don't have is the Chrome LM from D23.
BTW, the coupons do NOT apply to the purchase of limitted edition items. Believe me, I tried…and the LE is not part of their store wide cars sale of 30% off…It wouldn't hurt to try!

It is awsome, I never thought this set would be so nice. My sons grandmother pre-ordered it for his birthday coming. I almost fell on the floor when I saw how beautiful they are & the awsome display case , WOW. I cannot wait to pick it up November 3 . I also did not purchase the D23 mcqueen but wish I did !!

The turntable has failed on the display model at our local DS. I expect it will last at home, but the commercial environment seems to have been too much for it. It tries to turn, but makes a grinding noise and only judders.

I saw them the other week to, but I was too lazy to make a post. They are fancy but not worth all those clams, like Chris said.

Haven't seen it in-person yet, but there is no way I would pay $150. There's 5000 of these; it will not sell out at that price. I'm betting it will be 30-50% off soon enough…only then will I buy it.

I saw them, but they were behind the counter. For us, not worth $150 though. That and they take up too much display space.
I did get a sweet Daytona Prototype Chevrolet Action die cast 1:18 scale in box from a garage sale last week for $5 though…
I drove by on the way to the kid's swimming lesson and they had a whole table full of NASCAR diecasts, good thing someone else bought them before I came back, or I would have been tempted to buy them too. I did get a autographed Darrell Waltrip media card in frame for $1, nice garage art!
