Well NYC is now completely shut down. The winds are really starting to blow here now too and the storm is still a couple hundred miles away. Tonight when the storm really comes in right around high tide time it's going to be really bad around here. Should be interesting. Let's hope it's not that bad.
I can't wait until Sandy is done and we can go Cars hunting again.

Consistent rain and increasing winds here in northeast pa. Already lost power once but only briefly. Reports of downed trees and power lines already.

The eye is now supposed to go through York, PA, which is about 50 miles from here. I expect we will get some pretty heavy wind this evening. Hopefully Three Mile Island is already shut down and there will be no issues with the plant flooding. It is about 10 miles from the path of the eye. Surprised

Oh darn. I live in PA…

You're more out to the West though, right DJ? You should be better off if you're over there hopefully

Yeah, i'm more out west. I hope so, some places are closing in town. I'm not too worried about it though.

I'm about an hour west of you here in Niagara Falls.  It's been raining here for 4 days straight and the basement is now taking on water.  The good news is they said the rain should stop around 1am and then all we have to worry about are the 75mph wind gusts.

The low lying areas of NYC and NJ among other places are devastated. We received record storm surge. I live 9 blocks from the beach. Some of my block was inundated. By the Grace of God the water went over my sidewalk , halfway up my front yard grass and stopped right there. A few more inches and my basement would have started filling up. I can not thank God enough right now.
However all the blocks below I cannot begin to describe. The water came up over 10 feet in many peoples houses. Some small houses by the beach imploded. There are people stranded on their second floors everywhere. The whole neighborhood is blacked out down there. There are thousands blacked out all over. The rescuers can’t get to them all. God bless those people.
I witnessed people who literally had to swim from their homes. I saw others being recued by boat. The water came fast they say. I feel so sad for all the people. This has to be the worst storm in NYC history.
Tomorrow when the sun comes up I can only imagine what it will look like. Thee have been a ton of trees down and fires caused by downed electrical lines as well. It’s going to be a long haul ahead.

So glad that your home was not damaged Jack! So sad to hear about the others though, how cold is it there? I know that can't be helping either, I saw on the news something like 4 million are without power.

No power now since around 9 last night, no idea of what it looks like outside haven't really heard anything. Going to have to go somewhere tonight if power not restored. My little cars fan is afraid because while we were putting him to bed the lights kept blinking. I turned on a cars battery powered sign he has on his wall and that seemed enough light for him to relax thank you LMQ!! No heat and….. No coffee it's not gonna be a good day here hope my neighbors And everyone else is ok. Gonna have to make some rounds this morning. I'm surrounded by elderly neighbors some of who have no family. Jack glad u were spared!!! Will update conditions after sunrise when I can go out and see what's going on

I work about 20 miles northwest of DC and everything seems fine here.  With the government shut down, it is very quiet.  I hope everyone else is doing okay.

Power restored here, no injuries no damage to any of my property and all my elderly neighbors are doing fine as well. Hopefully everyone else is doing ok, however after seeing some news reports I know that's not the case 🙁

My local TRU is one of the few areas that have power around here today for the first time. However no deliveries yet due to the storm. I sure hope things get back to semi normal soon. I miss Cars hunting but unfortunely right now I live in what's like a war torn 3rd world country so it's going to take awhile. The mayor says power should be restored within 7 to 10 days. Right now it's hard enough just to get gas or a cup of coffee.

We were fortunate not to live at the shore but lost power from 8:45 PM Monday to 6 AM Thursday here in Bucks County, PA. Everyone here is OK though but we did lose a tree. It blocked our
driveway until we got a guy to clear it on Tuesday but fortunately it didn't hit
our house or anyone else's.

My
grandparents have a shore house three houses from the beach in Ocean City NJ. We
haven't been able to make it down there to see if the house made it or not.
Fortunately it is not their permanent residence and they remained safe at their
main house the whole time. We haven't had school the whole week since it is
taking so long to restore power everywhere and clear downed trees. We have
friends in the area who still don't have power right now. Terrible storm,
fortunately it's a once in a lifetime deal.

I have to commend Governors
Corbett and Christie as well as Phila. Mayor Nutter, they all did a fine job
during this situation
