Has anyone had any success with repairing the wire axles of these cars?

 

We scored over a 100 of first-release Cars, made in Thailand!! We got them off of Craigslist. Some of them however have damaged axles, especially Snot Rod with his bigger back wheels.

 

So just curious if anyone has ever replaced an axle so that the wheels can spin? Any info would be appreciated!

The Miles Axelrod I opened has weird axels, one of the wheels wouldn't spin and would make this high pitch squeak if you would press it hard enough so it would turn. All I did was bend and tweak it alot and it's mostly fixed. It still doesn't turn like it should, but it does at least. Does yours need more than just tweaking to fix it? Could you show a picture of it so I could see how it looks?

I Have a flo with a bent wheel, so when pushed instead of going forward she turns right.

My Dinoco McQueen has some sort of bent axle and my KDay Lewis' wheels are tight and don't roll well. I never have thought of how to fix them.
