Gidday people just a short note to say love this site ive visited here a few times . Ive just started taking an interest in collecting diecast vehicles and for now the Pixar Cars appeal to me as they are a reasonble price to purchase and look good. what im am goin to ask is the fact im in my 40's its not childish of me to want to collect these vehicles is it? as i will eventually pass them down to my kids (collecting mcqueen and mater at the moment). Any advise would be much appreciated.
cheers
Scott

Hello Scott,
I do not think it is childish at all to collect these awesome cars 🙂 They are very fun to collect no matter what your age. I am 19 and I collect for myself and my sister. We LOVE them! They look great on display and would be great for handing down to someone else when you are done with them. If you need any help with your collection I have a lot of extras for sale.
Hope this helps,

Welcome, Scott! I'd say that most of the folks I've met through this and other Pixar Cars websites are 30-50 years old. I look at it as collecting a form of art (especially cars from the original movie) that just happen to be toys as well. Childish? No. For the kid-at-heart? Absolutely.

I just started collecting also and I am in the age range that sodabear lists in his post.

I've always had a collecting bug. (Matchbooks and coins when I was younger, then comic books, MTG, anime, etc, etc 🙂
Now that I've got a 3yo son, it's nice that he can enjoy the cars that I like collecting. We started out with a couple of "I wants" at TRU and it's been a fun ride ever since.
There is quite a thrill finding a rare/recently released car on the pegs as well as scoring a sweet deal on ebay.
I don't mind picking up the mess of cars on the living room floor, as I can arrange them by character/series/etc. I think it's mild form of OCD 😉
So yah, enjoy collecting…

Child-like? Maybe. Childish? No. Do what makes you happy, don't worry about what people may think. Collecting Cars is great fun, and it's like owning a Honda, "you meet the nicest people".

Welcome, Scott! How many traditional, full-size paintings could you fit in the space required to store or display hundreds of these little, rolling masterpieces? Not many! They are way more fun than fine china and Tiffany lamps, and many of them retain their value better than stocks and bonds have as of late. I say go for it! Off topic: Any chance you are a fan of classic Flying Nun/NZ music, like the Clean, the Bats, and the Chills? These are a few of my longtime faves. Anyway, happy collecting!
