I just came across pics on another CARS Board of Lightning in various solid color and country color paint schemes. These do not seem to be customs, but I guess they could be. I got the impression they were upcoming models. Does anyone know anything about these?
You can do a search for TakeFive articles, as Met made several posts about this. Apparently there are legitimate international deco McQueens in the larger Disney Store size, but only available Internationally; and then there are the 1:55 versions which are not legitimate releases (they are something like backdoor factory customs, or prototypes?). You can look up the articles, or perhaps someone with full knowledge will chime in on here.

There are actually two different versions available. The Mattel 1:55 scale ones are apparently unauthorized backdoor or counterfeit versions of the authorized Disney Store 1:43 versions that are only being sold in Europe.

There will be 12 Disney Store LMQ's; only half have been released so far (Great Britain, Ireland, Spain, Japan, France, and Italy) with new releases coming each Monday.
