On another site someone has been maintaining that Leland is an Austin Healy, and he definitely has an Austin grill, as well as a strong front-end similarity to their bumperless racers. But his headlights are definitely Jaguar E-Type. Here's Leland as an Austin Healy (with a reduced grill) with E-Type headlights, as well as a few other adjustments. It's a little flat along the sides to really look like Leland…maybe he needs to be an E-Type without a bumper and with an Austin Healy grill, but that's for another day…

I'm sure Pixar takes liberties with how it draws these characters, so maybe it's a compilation of cars?

Yeah, wouldn't Disney/Pixar save money on licensing if they do as John suggests – come up with their own car designs that utilize pieces of actual car designs? DDD, is Leland your favorite character?

Well what I don't get is why Disney apparently pays to Ford Motor Company for use of the '49 Merc for Sarge, but do not acknowledge that Edwin Kranks and Milton Calypeer are '49 Mercs also, even though their castings are more accurate than Sheriff's!

Are we sure the auto companies don't gladly pay Pixar to have some of their iconic car designs featured in their movies?

Ha ha…yes, I guess so. Before I saw the movie it was Tomber, but he ended up being kind of dull, so my allegiance shifted to the doomed Leland. It's been a fun ride so far, so to speak. Hope we don't like the characters that remind us of ourselves…

That Austin side panel was way too flat (pre-compacting!)…here he is with the E-Type side, and the actual Jag wheels like he has in "real life." That's all!

I think he looks very similar to the green race anouncer (forgot his name!)

That's David Hobbscap, who's a direct copy of the more traditional E-Type Jag. Leland's like the convertible version with hard-top, but the same front end as Hobbscap.

That's nice of you, Mike, but I can pretty much just clone and paint in Photoshop with the same skill level I had a month after it first came out
