Has anyone had any luck getting TRU to give them the cardboard cutout displays after they are taken down?
I remember hearing their corporate policy is to just crush them, which is too bad since they are so cool and high quality. Does anyone know if they crushed the ones from earlier this summer then got new ones for now, or are the ones that are up now the same as from summer and were kept in back 'til now?

I'm not sure about TRU, I used to have success at KB Toys, and still do at Wal-Mart and Gerbes (Kroger).

What is your modus operandi? Just your charm?

I usually have my kids with me and/or the toy people see me buying so much all the time, they can't help but say "yes" when I ask for something. The only place with a personal failure rate of 100% is Target. They've never let me take anything.

I've never had any luck at TRU or Walmart; never tried at Target. Sears told me to "come back in 3 months" and ask then, one month later the little display was already gone. Bamboozled by Customer Service again!

Someone at Aldi once let me take the display since I was buying everything left on it.

The main reason the displays are supposed to be destroyed is due to licensing and user agreements between the retailers and the manufacturers. Technically speaking, the displays are not the property of the retail store. They belong to the manufacturer, and thus the store is supposed to do with those displays whatever the manufacturer requests, which is usually to destroy them.
