I spoke to a Disney Store associate today. I asked her about the D23 McQueen and she said they will not be getting it in the store but…
a limited edition red Lightning McQueen with Mia & Tia is coming around the time the video is released. She said they will start taking orders next month. It will be (I think) the same size as the D23 McQueen. It will have special (red) fleck paint, whatever that means. It also said the steering works and the lights work and it had a realistic under case, whatever that means. Saw a picture. It looks like a regular red McQueen with red Mia & Tia. It will be $149. For that price I'm sure it has some special features but she really didn't have much info yet.
If anyone else has any info on this, please let us know.

GOT MY CALL THIS AM FROM DISNEY STORE NOT AS LIMITED AS CHROME,HAS RANSBERG PAINT PRE ORDER STARTS SEPT. 12 , AND SHE TOLD ME THERE WAS NO PRICE LISTED, PUT PUT ME ON THE LIST

Update:
The Disney Store will start taking pre-orders for the limited edition red LMQ/Mia & Tia next week. My store will have one sample in on Tuesday. I'll try to get some photos then. Sales lady said her store will get 10 in the first shipment and she expects them to sell out quickly.
I will probably pass since $149. is a bit much but I need to take a look at it before I make a final decision.

My Chrome Mcqueen has a certificate of authenticity.
Was this included by mistake Since it has LM, Mia and Tia characters?

Interesting. Your certificate says limited edition of 250 so that is for the D23 LMQ. Maybe they were going to add a Mia & Tia to him but changed their minds. The Disney Store edition will be much more. The Disney clerk thinks it will be 3500. I'll find out next week.

Maybe we were all scammed by Disney…the D23 was a LE of 250…but they will sell the same thing as part of a three pack…the LE is the fact you only had to pay $99 for one car

I thought getting this certificate inside the D23 expo display box was strange since mia and tia were not included. The exact wording is below, and the use of plural wording of characters not singular got me thinking this certificate was not meant to be in the box.
The wording:This Lightning Mcqueen Diecast car set is an exact replica of the characters seen in the Disney Pixar animated film Cars 2. Disney store designers working closely with the Pixar filmmakers have carefully recreated the Lightning Mcqueen, Mia and Tia characters to ensure every detail is accurate and authentic. This collectable Disney Store exclusive is part of a limited edition of 250.
But as you said Micky it does say limited edition of 250. But this car is chrome, so how could it be a an exact replica since the color of Mcqueen was not chrome in the movie? What color was Mia and Tia in Cars2? I don't recall. And this was a D23 not a Disney store exclusive, or are they the same.
Anyway can't wait to find out what you learn.

Don't think so. the 3 pack with Mia and Tia will be a Red
Mcqueen, Micky wrote earlier in this thread.

Yea, I think BMW is right – that they originally planned to include the red Mia & Tias and decided not to – whether for economic reasons or it just wasn't ready in time … and Micky, when they talk about the special undercarriage, I believe they are simply referring to how detailed it is/was on the chrome one so for the "red" one, they are referring to that – it is ultra detailed.

Went to Disney Store today. Saw LMQ w/Mia&Tia. Very nice! I am almost tempted to buy it. It's huge and heavy. It comes in a very nice acrylic case. LMQ is on a turn table. Press a button and he slowly spins around. The store I visited was only allocated 6 for pre-sale and they were sold yesterday when the store opened. It's worth taking a look at in person. The pictures don't do it justice.
