Any graphic designers out there able to identify the Font used for the name badges for the individual cars? Trying to replicate it, and not having much luck.

I'm not a graphics designer, but it looks like a slight variation of

Spot on…not as bold as the one on the card name badge, but it's definitely a start
It may appear discolored a bit, but it is tweaked to print to my laser printer
The top lightning is the original name tag
When I finalize it, I'll share with anyone who wants it…it will be a PSD file from CS2 wirh layers and editable text and selection sets

When I did the Compacted Leland package, I played around with Gill Sans Bold Italic and cut the little gaps manually…it's pretty close.

Wow, those tags look great! Is photoshop the only program needed to do something like this?

That's what I use, mainly because I'm not so good in Illustrator, where you'd normally do things like this. It makes cutting into the letters more of a manual thing, and imperfect at close inspection, but it works for me. For the background, I actually just cloned out some existing letters and didn't bother doing the really nice job Dunroamin did with creating a new one.

Mike M.,
You could try to do it in something even as simple as MS Word…especially if I send you the carbon-fiber background image…then just lay over the white text…I'm 100 percent sure the font is spot on, but it looks like they had a bolder variant…all the letters are identical..you defintely have to play with the letter spacing to get the right look…I can send the font too…it's a freeware.
I'm goign to make the poor amns SPeedway of the south Rubber tire version with the red arrow tag pictured below (from Kmart 6 RT cars 1 cars)

Here's just the background…
the original image is 1852x666 or 2.777 inches by 1 inch (at 667 dpi)
If you download the font mentioned above…tweak the spacing…you'll be all set…sizing the font is trial and error…
bring the image into whatever layout program at 100%
