Normally I love black friday, but this year i don't feel like fighting the crowds. My fear is that I might miss a new release or a great buy. How do you know when the cars are going to be released? Anybody ever have any luck on black friday? I will be in the detroit area and probably hit a few tru just to see what i find. Might have to ball on thanksgiving dinner to do this though not on friday. Do you go out hunting for cars on black friday? I would love to hear your thoughts!

I have never attempted to shop on Black Friday. My kids aren't old enough to have asked for any high dollar items that I could save enough money to make it worth it to fight those crowds or lose any sleep over. Maybe when they start asking for TVs or video game consoles, I might reconsider. It seems like the best time to shop for Cars is the after-Christmas clearance sales.

The speedway 9 pack was a third the cost of the black friday deal after Christmas…of course, no one predicted each store would have a truck load of them…some may even re-appear this Christmas
I say avoid it

I would say skit it as well, spend the time with your family.
No store is likely to have a great sale on Cars. We are talking about items that cost $8 at the most, how much are you really going to save?
The higher-priced items, even at $40-$60 a pop wouldn't be on sale for more than 20% off, I reckon.
As far as anything new, I wouldn't worry about missing anything. Actually I am hoping Black Friday buyers will clear the pegs of the stuff that has been hanging around since summer to make way for newer Cars.

Not to shop. No use throwing elbows at innocent Christmas-shopping mothers to get Popemobiles. Fellow collectors, though, that's another story.

I believe everyone is so excited for Black Friday! I have actually found this article: Black Friday is also the biggest car shopping day of the year.According to the article, the Mitsubishi Endeavors will be the sweetest deal going. Its price will be dropped by 23.3 percent at many dealerships. That brings the final cost down to $22,334.I'm still thinking about it cause it's a good deal for the coming Christmas.
Wow. We actually get spam in this forum? I guess no forum is too small to get spammed.

I'm starting to think Met should get rid of links so spammers wouldn't visit here too often. Or let only members with 25 Posts or more be able to give links. It seems like spammers only consider posting once or twice. It would be fun to see Spammers having to post 25 random times just to get a link in.

I love shopping on Black Friday. More precisely Thanksgiving late night.
There are definitely deals to be had and it's like an all night Christmas shopping party.
Last year we had a blast. Several friends and I were texting and calling each other with reports from different stores and picking up things for each other.
I couldn't believe how many people were on the road at 2:00 AM. I ran into some friends and others I know at the stores too. For me with 3 young children, late night shopping when they are asleep is great.
Yes it's true that some prices will go even lower after black Friday but then again some items may not be.
So for me personally I like being out in the craziness. It's become a traditional event now. So I say go for it. Why not? You only live once that I know of and it only comes but once a year.
In life you never regret too much the things you tried and failed or weren't very good. Usually you only regret what you fail to try.
Think of how you would feel if you didn't go to the stores and found out after you missed some great new releases like a new toons display with El Materdors,Moon Mater etc. not that I think the toons will be out but just saying you never know what you might find. You have to be in it to win it.

I ended up shopping…. couldn't resist. I actually went to TRU on thanksgiving, stood outside in very cold weather to get into the store then, stood in line for another 2 hours to pay for the toons I found. CRAZY. Never have I seen such a lines. The line to get in wrapped around the entire front of the shopping complex and around the back. To pay, you wait in a line that weaved up and down every isle in the store. Don't know that I will do that again, even if it was for toons. Time is money!

Wow, finding Toons anywhere nowadays is a pretty sweet find. They were probably sitting on the shelf all along!

Tom, I found Toons at every TRUs I went to this past week. Must have hit 15 in Michigan, 2 or 3 in Indiana, and 1 in Chicagoland. Even found some at BL around Kalamazoo while waiting for a traffic jam to clear. I can't stand to waste time, so might as well be productive right?
Heres what I picked up: 4 pk mater the greater w sign, big fan, burnt LM, captain munier, corporal Kim, Daredevil LM, Dr. Mater mask up, Frightening McMean, High dive Mater, Lug & Nutty Pitties, Orderly Pitties, Props McGee, RS ambulance, Rs chopper, Rasta Mater, RS trooper, soaked LM. Some of these I ended up with extras that I will add to my trade list if anyone is interested.
Even though I added alot to my collection, I still want your toons, Tom.
My nephew spotted a blu ray/dvd combo gift pack (cars 1) with the ransburg LM & RS Mater locked up with the other dvds.
I was pretty happy with my finds. Thinking I might have to make a day trip to INDY soon.
I went to multiple Marshalls, TJ max, and Kmarts in michigan, chicagoland and indiana…. all of which I left without purchases. Both Marshalls and TJ Max had alot of color changers but that was it. Kmarts had some semis, but I didn't buy those. Visited multiple BLs but only one was worth it, with 3 toons and deluxes.
For cars 2 didn't see much, looked pretty picked over… only one mel dorado.

Wow, that was a great score!
I'm jealous of the Cars 1 find. I've been looking at that online, but it's like 50 bucks.
