Collector to collector,
I understand first come first serve but especially in these days of slow moving new cases it disturbs me when I read fellow collectors on this site finding a new case of something new then say they bought all of them only to turn around and complain about not finding something new later. I can understand buying all if they sre old and on clearance or half of new ones on the shelf and leave some for the next guy but all 8?!? C'mon son go buy a case online.
Be sociable, share!

I found 6 Geargrinders in the last 3 days, but have traded 5 of them to board members here for nothing more than Cars I didn't have.

I've been thinking about this post since yesterday as well.
What if you happen upon only one Galloping Geargrinder? Do you just leave it for the next guy?
And I'd much rather buy the 8 Cars right now for only $32, versus spending $100+ on a whole case and waiting several days to get it AND be stuck with 16 to 22 pegwarmers.

Alright, alright, alright, looks like I pushed a button and in the minority on my thinking. I'm not sure how my phone skills come into play when voicing an opinion or gauging other collectors views. Seriously, of course if there is only 1 pick it up. I travel quite a bit and yes I've picked up an extra 1 or 2 uncommons for trading but I guess I look on my own joy of finding new cars in the wild as most of us do and in my opinion just being considerate of others to have the same thrill. Thanks for your replies as its always good to hear another point of view.

Ghostlight, I agree 100% with everything you said. Don't be bullied by everyone else. It is greedy and ridicoulous to snag everything on the shelves. I found Galloping Geargrinder at Walmart, I actually found two! I bought one, and left the other on the shelf. Maybe some other collector would need one. I can understand someone buying the lone chase, but not four of the same thing. For example, went to Toys R Us, they had four cases of the Radiator Springs classics wave 1. Some jerk bought all four of the Tex Dinoco's! Dude, cmon! There is one per case. That is the one I need. That guy could not have left just one for someone else? Don't feel bad or back down, I completely understand your frustration.

That was the first time I was able to get a Tex without googly eyes.

The funniest part about that is that the "jerk" thought that Tex was the best car in the case. You want a Tex?… shoot me an email with your address and I'll give one to you, I have about a dozen of them lying around.

Ghostlight, I sort of agree with you. It really gets me frustrated when I look at somebody's collection and see they bought 10 or 12 of this one Car, and then I look at my collection and I don't have a single one. Of course they didn't get it from my town or something, but I never liked that anyway…. Just my opinion…

I have to do it. Someone call the Waaambulance. All is fair and to the victor goes the spoils. No one should be judging others or dictating what others buy and just because some collectors think its better to leave good cars on the pegs doesn't mean others should too. Besides I bet all the "moral" and thoughtful leave some for the next guy have done worse at some point than buying all the good cars.
I know it's frustrating to get beat to what you wanted but it's just too bad. I live right near a Hot Wheels maniac hog that is out every single day and wants to buy every Super Hunt within 15 miles of us. However that's just the way it goes, if he gets to any new case first ain't no one else getting any.
Bottom line everyone can buy with they want and if you don't like it it's on you. The stores are open for everyone at the same times. Level playing field. Get to the new cars first and you don't have to worry that someone else bought the all. However if you do get beat accept defeat gracefully and don't expect other collectors to leave valuable cars. Most are smart enough not to.

For every time I beat someone else to the punch, it's just as likely that it will be the other way around at a future time. I'm not gonna yank cars out of people's hand if they have it first, and if a little kid has been looking for a Geargrinder I will give him one of mine, even if I only have one. But if I am the only one there, I'll take what I need for my collection and what I think I can sell. I'm not gonna hoard but I'm not gonna leave something I can trade and enhance my collection with – buying trading fodder is the equivalent to buying something that you need for your collection because you will trade that item for it. Leaving trade fodder is like leaving what you would recieve in the trade, which is something we wouldn't do if the actual item were right in front of us.

Oooh, touchy subject. I guess the line has been drawn. I knew I wasn't alone thanks. I now see how the game works; get there first, get em all and trade em later cause just like Flop said "plus it is hard work to find what u want sometimes.". Talk about calling the "waambulance". Is this not the reason eBay is out of control at times? At the end of the day your gonna do what you feel is right. I just wanted to guage the groups perspective on this. I guess im dumber than most collectors leaving good cars for others to enjoy as "Most are smart enough not to." Good debate no need for low blows.
Happy Hoarding, darn it I meant Hunting.

I agree in a way, I don't care if someone picks up extra cars for a trade or for a friend, multiple children, etc. but I do have a problem with people buying up everything and putting it on eBay just to make a dollar. I know there are a lot of adult collectors and that's fine but when you buy up all the good cars just to make some extra cash it's no worse than taking candy from a baby, your keeping children (who these toys are intended for) from having possibly their favorite character in the movie. That's just me though, we all have our own opinions.

This is a crazy thread!
The time and money that I spend hunting Cars is valuable to me. There is no way I am going to leave something that I or other T5ers need on the shelf after spending my time and money to look for them. I do not buy Cars to re-sell them. I buy them to:
1) give to my children
2) collect for myself
3) to trade with or give to other T5ers
Where do you think a lot of the Cars people post up for trade here come from? If I buy more than one of a Car that ends up going to my kids, myself, or another T5er, that is one less Car a reseller can buy and sell for jacked up prices on fleabay.
I agree that it is frustrating to find the remnants of a new case on the shelf with the new release missing, but that is just how it goes.
"Don't hate the players, hate the game!"
Also, I would recommend posting on the local collectors page with your location, areas you shop and your contact info. Get in touch with other local collectors and use your power in numbers to help each other get the Cars you need.
