So Leland Turbo is on eBay now! I first thought it was a fake, with the beady eyes and fakey front end (weird headlights…too bad they aren't recessed like Francesco's crew chief's). But it appears legit…I tried for him, but he went for over $150! More appear to coming…hope he settles down a bit.

Compared to the prototype, I'm much happier with the eyes being his "OMG" expression, which is the only one he really had in the movie. To fill the image, I stuck in my Corgi custom, which I look forward to putting next to the real thing.

I know everyone values Cars differently and everyone has different resources, but it is still crazy to me that people pay so much in fleabay for new Cars that will likely be easy to get pretty much anywhere in the US soon.
I remember reading a post about people trading showstoppers for Metallic Dragon LMQs with collector guides, for example.

I've discovered that patience is key when trying to collect in a fiscally responsible way :)…If you wait…they will come…

yeah, I've blown some $$ on hard to finds though…rarely on eBay though.

For those of you who keep track of license plates, it appears from a new photo on eBay that Leland's is S2 TRBO. S2 is the military staff code for intelligence gathering and analysis, which fits Leland's mission to a T(RBO). From Wikipedia:

S2: The intelligence section…responsible for collecting and analyzing intelligence information about the enemy to determine what the enemy is doing, or might do, to prevent the accomplishment of the unit's mission.

Leland is here!

I was wrong about the license…it's 63 TRBO. I'm guessing 63 refers to Jason Isaacs' birthday, since "officially" Leland's a 1965. The headlights do bother me, and the mouth paint doesn't match the shape of the sculpt (teeth are painted straight but sculpted on a curve), but he's still wonderful and I'm glad to have him. (Interestingly, the seller was in Hong Kong but he arrived in less than a week…from California. He's also perfectly finished and painted…a great relief.)

BTW Dunroamin…I noticed your avatar. I've always wondered why they didn't make an actual alarm clock like the one in the movie…the little car is even featured as a character in the "Meet the Cars" book. It would be easy and so cute…if it's an interest of yours, do you know anything about plans to produce it?

no idea…I did some sketches and a design for a way to make it, but never got around to…I'd buy one is a second if they did!

I have a blue lego alarm clock right now…it's really just a clock…the kids are my alarm Yell

Leland Turbo is so neat! But is it all one piece? Or does the Mouth Piece paint so correctly match the Body Paint of the Car that I don't see it?
