Found the World Grand Prix Race-off at our local Kmart… still no crew chiefs. They had two sets hidden way up on a top shelf, none where anyone might buy them.

I can't tell if Raoule is plastic, box doesn't claim that he is diecast, but the model looks very good through the little window, no obvious decals. Also the paint scheme is just enough different to call the one in the box a variant; IF it is a diecast. Frankly don't want to spend $25 to find out. 😉
Raoule single sitting on top of the WGP box, notice the black band above the windshield. Light blue color is slightly different also making the graphics read differently, not easy to see in the photos.

Very interesting … I will have to check our Kamrts for these. My first guess would be plastic … but will wait until I see it in front of me to say for sure. 🙂

Maybe the large amount of plastic used in the regular Cars 2 cars brings the weight down such that Mattel can use regular cars in playsets. They would save on tooling up special plastic versions.

Looks plastic to me… he seems to have a brighter blue on his front also.

The 1:55 pull back version of Raoule seems to share this paint variation.

I posted pics when I first found them. Were six McQueens at Mattel El Segundo store. Was one left as of Wednesday. Staff say they come and go.

My son got this as a gift. I wasnt going to buy it as it's the same exact thing as the Cars 1 dirt track, which we already have, but I can confirm for you that the Raoule is in fact plastic like the other vehicles that come with the playsets. It's paint scheme is differemt as the hood is a lighter blue then the rest of the car, but indeed plastic, giving Raoule a very unfair advantage in racing against the other heavier cars lol
