Here's a great idea gone terribly wrong. About $12 at Kmart, it is an EVA foam play mat with an Al Oft's eye view of the Speedway of the South. Except that the entire mat measures about 17"x36". Had they made it 1:55 scale it might have been the best Cars toy in a long time.

Even the eraser scale cars can't pass on this track.

Ooh bummer, that would have been a pretty cool play mat if it were in scale. Of course it would have had to be about 6 feet long and 3 feet wide, but I'm sure they would have sold!

Good point! I noticed Lizzie is part of the Squinkies lineup. I'm glad she has made some sort of return to the stores. Now we need a return in 1:55!

I think it's quite amusing that the Piston Cup and Team 95 Air Wrench are larger than the actual Cars themselves.

Thanks to this post, it makes it official. We will not be getting this playmat. I saw it in the store and thought there is no way we will be able to put 35 cars around this track.

Ohh! I want to get this mat for my sons, but not anymore since it is not up to scale.

I saw that in a Family Dollar store for $10. I thought about getting it for my son but decided against it because it looked like the track was too small. Looks like I was right.

Today at Kmart I saw another EVA mat by the same company. Cars 2 images, 4'x4' in shrink wrap (no box this time) for $21. Not very interesting, but proves the manufacturer knows how to do a bigger mat.
