Local Disney Store had Colussus(a Mattel product) today and the new 5 car sets too. The Mater set looks really nice.

Cool find … wish we had a Disney Store close … so sad that they closed ours earlier this year. I remember the day when we had 4 within an hours drive … now we have to drive an hour to get to the closest one. I guess it is a good thing we only do Mattel in our house!

You don't need a Disney store close by–if you don't mind shipping cost–you can buy at their website. They have a set called Mater-o-Rama ( with Ivan Mater), McQueen-O-Rama, with a special chrome mcqueen), Private Eye Mater, and Mater on the moon. They are so cool. You have to check these out.

For a LONG time I was a bit snooty about the Disney Store die casts… ( I still am a little I must admit) I wouldn't buy any of them. But we were at the Disney Store the other day and my son really wanted Taco Truck Mater, Vampire, The Queen and a few others… most of them were on clearance, so we bought some and some of them look really nice! Mattel is losing business, I don't really understand why they are waiting so long to release these!!??
I love the Private Eye Mater set! I have been wanting to see Black and White Squad Car McQueen!

I agree and judging from requests from overseas friends the Squad Car McQueen is wanted. Mater PI cars will be huge if and when Mattel ever gets back to the Toons. Big D is awesome.

I'm just not a DS guy, but if Mattel ever does these I hope they make matchings sets in color. After all, at the end of Mater P.I., the Pittys were in full color.

I started with the Disney Store cars so I'm more than excited to see these. Especially the McQueen set.
The other sets for me are a must have as well. I have all the other cars to date and all the little sets for Cars 2.

Some. I called our closest three stores yesterday, all three had Mater-Rama, none had Mater PI, Moon Mater or Colossus. If you go into a store and they are out of something that is on their website they will order it for you with free shipping to the store. Sometimes that's a good deal.

I visited the Disney store today. They didn't have the CARS TOONS 3 packs, but I did pick up the Mater-rama 5 pack…Will see if I can get it again whent he sale starts…
I had to pass on the lighning 5 pack…the chorme paint job (which I really wanted) was extremely poor and totally not worth it…I may change my mind but for now…no thanks…

If so, then maybe this Disney Store Ivan Mater would be a more appropriate size than the nonexistent Mattel one, (certainly closer to scale than the Tomica one, which appears to be too small). Something to consider for character and play-oriented collectors and fans.

Shouldn't Mater and Ivan be the same size? They probably came off the same assembly line the same model year. Perhaps Ivan was an export model, maybe even assembled in another country, but other than trim changes and later modderfications, they'd be identical.
