Hi All!  I have some questions,  I am unable to relocate the post that I read several weeks ago about New Releases being available in the stores on April 22nd.  What can expect if I go hunting that day?  When are the cars put on the shelves?  Are there rules the stores must follow regarding time and date they can displayed?  Do all of the big retailers get boxes/cartons with new releases?  Is there a rule to what time of the day the cars go on the shelves?  Eve before the sale or morning of?   What if Finns are still clogging the pegs?  Is the store required to put the new releases out? Or is it possible for the the store to hold onto the new releases until they have more room?   Do we know how many and what specific ones are being released for sure?  If I remember right, a very knowledgable Met keeps us well informed, (Thanks Met!)  but how does Met get his info?  Does Met have connections or access to info some of us don't?  Not trying to be rude, ungrateful or nosey, just trying to figure out if I am overlooking something.

To those of you reading this, do you shop new release dates?  With success?  I am trying to get a feel for what to expect….  I have been collecting since Nov, and this will be the first time I will knowing hunt on a new release date.  Do I expect to find some new release? or will i be less disappointed if I think of it as just another shopping day?   LOL  I am excited, but reluctanct as it seems it might be to good to be true? Wink

The estimated date is April 22, it may be tomorrow, it may be 2 weeks from now for it to hit your store. The next 2 Cases to hit shelves are:

Case D: (Super Chase Case!)

Janne "Flash" Nilsson (Super Chase)

Vladimir Trunkov

Victor Hugo

Hydraulic Radiator Springs Ramone

Case E: (Case already found in UK and Belgium)

Officer Murakarmi (Airport Security Guard) Chase

Don Crumlin (Purple Gremlin)

This does not at all mean that these will be the Cases that hit the US in the next week. There could be one that just springs up out of nowhere, or one that's set for either farther down the Case numbering like F or H. Hope this helped!

ALSO, this date might just be something pulled out of Met's butt (Laugh) but probably not. The only thing that makes me think that is because normally someone, somewhere in the US would have found something new lately other than Cases already been out before Chase RS Ramone. We will find out on SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY!!! Smile

I guess, for me, it makes sense to start looking Monday. I don't expect anything and won't be disappointed to find the dreadful three.

The way things have been going, I would be surprised if you find anything but Finn and Zen Master in the stores on the 22nd.

I personally am not going to run to the stores Sunday and I have no time Monday, so I think I will check the forums here, on CTT, and on PCD to see what the Sunday runners have found. Based on that, I will check or not check my stores.

Nothing new Cars-wise in eastern Indiana, so I decided to hold off on going to Dayton (Ohio) or Indianapolis… not a total loss… I did find a flash attachment for my Nikon D50 that I think is going to help me out quite a bit when it comes to taking photos of my Cars collection.

Thanks for all the good information.  So far it doesn't look like anybody has had much luck with finding the new releases.  So, to sum it up, it's pretty much just another Cars day.  That's a bummer, I was ready to break out the charge cards.  I used to love "hunt days"….  it's more advantageous to buy on ebay if I consider gas, time and wear and tear on the car and my body.  Sure it's great when you find something, but when you don't it's very disappointing.

Is there any trends to when and where new cars show up first?  Any specific stores?  Why does mattel even bother with release days?  Very aggravating… I haven't found anything new cars 2 (mel dorado at TRU) in Nov.  Debating if I should continue collecting.

Today we tried TRU. They are down to four pegs of diecasts, mostly empty. The entire Cars section occupies less than 3 linear feet of aisle space; mostly ride makers and color changers. If we hadn't seen so many 'coming' Cars on eBay, I'd think the line had been end-of-lifed.
