Does anyone know why Disney Store Pixar diecast cars are larger in scale?  Is the scale 1:43 or 1:48? Is there a why to find out what the scale of a car is with standard measurement….like a ruler? What does the number on the bottom of the vehicle mean?

Disney's scale is 1:43 and it is that size, versus Mattel's 1:55, for non-compete of the same product.  I'm sure there is some justification of Disney selling to younger children so the car is bigger to fit in their hands. 

 

The numbers have to do with production runs, where the car was produced, etc. 

 

That's all I got. 🙂  I'm sure you can google a scale/ruler calculation somewhere and there are production number break downs somewhere too.  Or a Cars Historian will be with you shortly for a detailed explanation.  I'm still a newb.

Nice image but why did you post it here?

 

And gevans – the disney store's cars are about 1:44 scale while Mattel is about 1:55. That's about all I know (DS is bigger)
