I just got off of the phone with a local DS and they mentioned a new model release. I asked who it was and they said it will be Rip Clutchgoneski with a new paint scheme.
Normally new paint schemes means it will be a Chase edition, especially since it has a release date (more to details to follow). She stated that the memo does not classify the new Rip as a Chase edition.
Either way, a new paint scheme Rip will be on the way!!!!

There are gold metallic Rips on Ebay (from Hong Kong). I had assumed they were Mattel, but can't tell the scale from the photo…

That is a Mattel version. You can tell the difference by the headlights.

I have a release date: August 19th, 2013
I am a bit concerned though. While visiting the store today, I inquired about the memo to try and glean additional information. They told me that the memo was a list containing release dates for items. I asked for the exact description listed for Rip. They stated that it just said Rip Clutchgoneski. I asked if it is listed him as a Chase, they said no. I then asked how they know that he will have a different paint motif, they said since he has already been released and on the shelf for months now, it is the only thing that makes sense.
I wish Disney Store had a better communication channel than a lousy memo. Blog.disneystore.com would be a nice place if they ever updated it with Cars info. One can dream I guess.

That is a Mattel version. You can tell the difference by the headlights.
Maybe this will show up as a TRU metallic… right after we get Raoul ÇaRoule.

I'm pretty sure the Raoul CaRoule metallic diecast came out already… anyway, I really like the metallic Rip!
I hope the DS is actually getting one. I would buy it.

He was saying that because Metaalic Raoul was never released in the US. He's probably been out for over a year now internationally, but I'm just guessing on that.

Wow! It is not even a Chase! So strange that they picked those colors. I am really wondering what the concept is. Anyone want to take a stab at it?
