Hey, the 1:24 scale Lightning McQueen & Mater have actually arrived!

These are the non-Matty versions with plastic and not non-rubber rubber tires … except that NO ONE knows what happened to those that were supposed to appear on Mattycollector.com/ It’s not easy to misplaced X thousands of giant 1:24 CARS but Matty seems to have done so …
BTW, these are definitely nicer than the 2006 versions … one way to tell is that these boxes say WORLD OF CARS on them versus the 2006 ones which um, do not.

I just read you comment on selling your Bentley to collect the 1:24 scale Motor Speedway of the South set. Please, Please don’t give them any more ideas. It’s like printing money for them. They might do it. No more ideas, I want to keep my Bentley!!
MET, do we have any idea of case listing for the ‘final lap’/target/nonlenticular main line cars are? or when we can expect them?

If you didn’t noticed, the same person bought BOTH those cars!! My wife would divorce me in a heart beat if I threw away $807.00 on 2 little 1:55 scale cars!! What were they thinking. Or were they thinking at all? Or as my wife put it, “They must have just got a new credit card.” Unbelievable!!

Hey MET, here’s a scary TRU story for you……I was just in there today, and what I was told today was very disappointing.
One employee there has been very upfront with if/when CARS items may or may not be coming.
Here’s a kick where it hurts:
He said that when he last scanned the CARS “regulars”, they came up as “DISCONTINUED”!!! Then, he pointed out a little “X” printed on the peg tag, and said that the “X” indicates a discontinued item.
All of the $3.59 priced CARS had that “X”.
Fact, fiction, I don’t know what to believe.
Maybe it’s proof that TRU just doesn’t care about the CARS line anymore.
(MET: Yea, IndyKJT is right – they are switching UPC’s so it appears they are “canceled-discontinued”. Maybe TRU will mark down those 3,000 cases in their warehouse).
That may be due to the switchover to the lenticulars, and Target being the exclusive carrier of the classics (or Final Lap).
The lenticulars have been reported at TRU, and they may be switching product numbers for the new style… just a guess!
Yeah, I thought about that, but it’s still amazing how little interest TRU seems to have in a line that’s survived, what, about 3 years of merchandising?
Wall-E merchandise is mostly clearance-priced, pretty sad for a film that is barely a year from it’s release date.
There’s so much of a crossover interest in CARS, it’s pretty amazing….adults and kids share a common love for a film about inanimate objects that are brought to life…..and teach a lesson to us all.

I did go against my better judgement, cuz I forgot to preorder the Kmart case and there was no way I was getting to the only store in my area last Saturday, I bid on ebay for 1 case. It should be here within the next couple days and I wait with bated breath to see if I got a good or bad case. Fingers are crossed. I was able to get to that Kmart at the beginning of the week and picked up 3 rubbers…Mood, Shifty, & Bumper. It just amazes me how much inflation strikes ebay. Can’t wait for Sven and still keeping my eye open for Saluting Sarge.
See, you should always check the Trading Forum on takefiveaday.com, or at least ask everyone if they’ve got what you’re looking for….I have extra Kmart cases right now, just came Monday.
First off, I must admit that I first got into this whole crazy collection for my boys. They just turned 2 but they absolutely love this movie. On a whim, I picked up Mater and Lightning and let them play with them a couple of months ago. BIG MISTAKE since one of the boys, at that time, was eating everything. Away they went. Since Target had knocked price down to under $3, I figured what the heck, I’ll pick up some of their favorites from the movie, which we are now into triple digits of times viewed. Well this simple idea blossomed and over the past 6 months, I have become hooked obsessively with obtaining these little wheeled wonders. I buy them and store them away in totes. I figure in another year, they will draw the lucky lottery ticket and all the CARS they could want will be theres. Could I leave these in the totes and hope for a big payout one day….sure….but you know what, as most of you all know, the smile on your child’s face is priceless. To get on point, and sorry for babbling, I just wanted everyone to have an idea of who I am. I live out on the East Coast and it seems as though this area lags behind the rest of the country when it comes to new releases. Is it just me or has anyone else experienced this? Kmarts are far and few in between but there is Target, TRU , and Walmarts aplenty. Some better than others but a dry spell has hit. Nothing new for me since Frank and the Rubber Tire Gang.

First step is admitting you have a problem…around here we’re called Carsoholics…this is the church basement where we meet! Your Dry Spell is not so bad…the Rubber tires were just last week adn Sven is on his way!!

Yeah, Met’s recent post indicated that Target would get the “classics”, and that everyone under the sun would get Lenticulars.
At least we know ONE THING:
Saluting Sarge, at 1 per case, will NEVER be a peg warmer!
I lucked into 2 the other day, after our nearest WM put out 2 cases of lenticulars.
Mattel is so goofy to just put one in each case. Sheesh!!
lol funny story.. when we found our last 2 sarges hahah all the lenticulars were gone and those were the only 2 on the pegs im not even kidding hahah it was totally weird
The Sarge’s were probably hidden, by another customer or employee and found and put out after the other’s were gone…
Doubtful that someone would by up all the lenticular McQueens and not get at least 1 Sarge in the purchase…
That’s why I couldn’t find those 2 Saluting Sarges that I tucked safely away from prying eyes until I could come back for them!!!

My Toys R Us also had Googly eyed (lenticular) cars today. Picked up a Saluting Sarge.
Must be nice to have a TRU that actually gets CARS items worth mentioning. Good find for you! The only thing our TRU has gotten recently was the Mega Size case with 3 Franks, and it was a complete shock to see those on their pegs.
No denying that they look great, but I’ll pass on them.
