Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Great SDCC News – Buying Limits Not So Limited
Major update – thanks Tom D. for pointing this out.
There is NO LONGER a limit of 6 per day but 6 PER line visit so if you don’t mind doing the Disneyland lining up over & over & over again – buy as many as you freakin’ want!
“PRODUCTS AVAILABLE AT COMIC-CON
Products will be sold starting preview night. Customer service and safety is our number one priority, so we’ll have a separate booth run by our Toy Club to handle sales. Lines will only be allowed to get as long as the designated roped-off area, but “fast-pass” tickets will be handed out to reserve your spot later that day. Limits on all exclusives will be six per person, per visit to the Mattel booth.
If you choose to wait in line a second time, you’ll be eligible to buy another 6 figures (there will also be a limit of six figures for online purchases after the show). It should all go very smoothly for the best buying experience yet!”

For those buying at the show – keep in mind that handcarts are NOT allowed in the hall so if you plan on buying more than 2 of these, bring a giant freakin’ bag or some duffel bag that doubles as a backpack … also because it’s a 20-minute walk to the front door and another 20-minute walk to your CAR even if you are parked downstairs so just dropping them off at your car is not necessarily a great option. They do have a baggage check area or if you want to mail stuff back, there is a MailBox Etc, like store.
And now, the limit of 6 extends to the MattyCollector.com when these and most other Mattel SDCC items go on sale – again, August 3, 2009 – 9 AM PACIFIC TIME (U.S.).
For Toy Story fans, this Buzz in its “Toy Story” movie packaging is a special chase variant only available at the show – the online version at mattycollector.com available a week later is slightly different. It will read “Andy” on his foot as if the kid wrote it there. The mattycollector.com version will NOT have the “Andy” thing.
There is only ONE version of SDCC Rescue Squad Mater, Mia & Tia so both the SD one and the Matty one are EXACTLY THE SAME.
But nice there is in effect no limit (other than your bank account and what you can carry).

MET do you know if this is a limited release like LSMQ of last year?
(MET: Yea, not sure of the number but think it’s actually about half of last year’s run – once they are gone, they are gone though the three CARS will be available in other configurations – though Mater will not be in Ransburg, of course … and my guess is that Mater’s ladder won’t work in the regular release so in some ways comparable to last year’s Ransburg Lightning Storm versus megasized release card Lightning Storm).

Met, the confusion is that the picture of Rescue Squad Mater on MattyCollector.com is not the SDCC version but the standard version without the ransburg paint job. Oh well, what does Matty know about CARS?
(MET: I believe you have asked and answered your own question 🙂 🙁 … As far as I know, there is only ONE version of the three pack and that plain ole super-duper-cool Rescue Squad Mater will be available as a single only and the Ransburg three-pack is a SDCC and SDCC Matty only item).
So, will they be the same of not? If I want the Red Ransburg version I need to go to SDCC or if I don’t care which version, wait for Matty to put up the regular version? I’m so confused! Help!!
