Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Tokyo Mater CARS … Not Until 2010
While we will start to get the Mater Tall Tales CARS this year – coming in a couple months? Tokyo Mater CARS won’t be here until 2010.
We will get them in this order: Rescue Squad Mater, & Mater the Greater definitely in 2009 & maybe El Materdor also in 2009.
So, we have a while to wait until we get an actual list of Tokyo Mater CARS coming but we can take some guesses – some are pretty safe bets, some are likely, some probable and others might be long shots but hey, they still have to fill up 2010 until CARS arrives in 2011 🙂
And keep in mind the CARS TOONS lineup has singles, megasize (oversized packaging) and 4-CAR box sets as of now so …

Obviously we will get a Tuner Mater but maybe we’ll get a Mater with blue flames or with glow luminescent paint?

Probably a Toyota Century? But yea, Mattel could easily cheat by reusing Chuck Manifold and adding the Japanese hood mounted mirrors … curb feelers, probably not …

These are the most obvious ones that will see a release …
We’ll probably see the cop CAR also but they might need to license that one? My guess is it’s a Toyota Crown?

I did get a Kabuto toy and I see something totally weird everyone should be able to see at him: Why does he have a spoiler on the top?

Trust me! Those ninjas have normal Boost’s spoiler! I have a Kabuto ninja as a toy car, so there’s no doubt about it!!
Dragon lightning Mcqueen just arrived in Malaysia early February. Its the oil slick dirtied one. The paintwork is great! It is packaged with a collectors guide. But it cost a premium compared to the regular range.
I think the Toyota Century will be a single and i’ll buy 1. I hope they’ll make the Japanese cop a single too. If they do I’ll get one of those.
I want to see the Modified Mater with the Pallet Hood, and Wood sides
from the ending of the Tokyo video when he was scraping himself on the ground.

Those people who made Tokyo mater toon should have added tokyo sally there! LOL! In tokyo, Tokyo Sally would be named Sely! LOL! LOL! LOL!

Ladies and Gentlecars,
As I said in the part 2 post we will do many, many, of these Characters and we’ll try to get them right, Lot’s of good, solid guesses as to what we’ll do from this great short.
Someone commented that some these Characters are alike and of course they are because the 3-D files are already built/exist. It’s like me reusing tooling, just redeco when and IF it makes sense.
JL and his crew are the creative bomb, not doubt about it. Canon, what’s cannon. When I first saw these cannon went out the window. As Met said, “If Pixar created it, it’s cannon.” They are loose cannons, pun intended.
Again, all very close guesses…………..not sure about the spelling on guesses, I’m an artist not a writer 🙂

I think the red, yellow, green Chukis wold be a good movie moments packout, and make the Tokyo Tunerz into a boxed set exactly like the Supercharged 3-pack with the neon ‘effects’ packaging.
Donut shop pittys and police cars would be cool too.

Those “Tokyo” versions of the Tuners in the movie are probably seperate people, as we see DJ in Tokyo. Plus, Boost and Wingo are slightly different although the Ninjas look like the same general car as Boost. And the Green Wheel Mia and Tia is probably just the lighting.
i guess its cheaper to tweak an existing CG model so your right
… And remember… They are technically a dream/story that Mater is makin’ up – So he bound to take the people(as you so sweetly put it) or Cars that he knows and just put them into roles in another dimetion…

Yes. That was my favorite moment-I love when they throw jokes at me that I don’t expect.
Though what about a geisha 3-pack, regarding the three that drive by Mater with wooden wheels, giggling?
Though I do wonder how many people now wish to recreate the little ‘dance-scene’ at the end? That scene reminds me so much of the ‘Cars movie poster’ that serves as a what to collect next guide for many. The ‘Cars’ poster is also the only reason I’ve allowed ‘Jerry Recycled Batteries’ to bypass my ‘no haulers’ ban.
