This line is easy to collect.
He is the chosen one.
We’re putting out one color at a time.
Each Target gets a different color.
The other CARS are for illustration purposes only.
If you don’t waddle in here at 8 AM, you lose, dude.
There are plenty of the Speed Racer Easter cars?
Please do not cry on the merchandise.
The other three are defective anyway – Shiny Wax doesn’t have the green circles, Spare Mint is spelled Spare O Mint and Charlie Checker – yellow tail-light, that’s just dumb.
Maybe you can find them on eBay under TGT_Seller56.

I guess i got lucky? I found all 4 eggs @ one of my local Targets by chance, was wandering through the easter stuff and at the end of an ilse there they were about 3 of each color(last saturday).
I was at my Target today and they didn’t have a single Cars egg. There were slots and prices, but no eggs, no evidence they were ever there either. All of the other Easter stuff is out and stocked. Who knows!
my target had a bunch of all of them. i didnt get as i have 3 of the 4 and the 4th will be in 3 pack. i dont collect to store. i just wish they stocked new cars.

Sorry to hear about all the Targets with poor selection. Here in So Cal I have been seeing all 4 colors and just moving on. But maybe the resellers are starting to read these posts and are gobbling them all up?!?
I have to agree that I am not sure what the big deal is as I think the upcoming Spare mint 3 pack is more exciting anyhow. Plus the $6 price tag is a bit steep. And, I have never criticized Mattel’s marketing until now, but what a weird selection of the 4 Car choices! If these guys were thinking shouldn’t they have put 4 new cars in the eggs? They would have probably cleared the shelves quickly, if not, Easter clearance prices would have moved them, and the best part? You can’t return Easter merchandise after the holiday so the Resellers wouldn’t be so eager to overpurchase them. Is this flawed logic? Just my two cents anyhow.
Its Target’s job to clear the shelves, and not Mattel’s. Mattel just sells the cases which they already did. It is cheaper to make McQueen eggs than the others, so why not 3 to case? I am sure Target has already factored in clearing out the McQueen eggs for the regular price of $3, after everyone is so quick to pay double for the rest. And keeping the others one per case, will keep collectors and resellers coming back to the stores over and over again, hopefully buying other items while they are there. I don’t think it is flawed.
Why do you believe the LM egg is cheaper to produce?
Bulk on red paint, chassis, stickers, etc. Besides the fact they were probably already made and laying in wait from other factory runs.
Geez, I never thought about “bulk on red paint”. It is an interesting point, however. It tells you how much I know about manufacturing plastic Easter eggs and die-cast Cars.
By the way, being relatively new to die-cast (a year now?), I have a somewhat related question: Does anyone know how they paint with such fine detail on the race Cars in particular? The detail on the sponsor logos is so tiny yet so clear. I assume they have some type of laser painter but every time I look closely I am truly amazed they can do such detailed work without blurring or smudging a bit of paint.
Had about 3-4 cases here Friday, but didn’t pick any up. Cards were mostly bent. Went back Monday, and they only had 7 McQueens left.
My Target’s had them on the 6th, so got a set and a extra SpareMint and Shiny Wax CC. Gave those extras away and now can’t find any more except for the Red McQueens anywhere. Hope another shipment comes. Met said a three week shipment, so hopefully tommorrow when the Thurs/Friday truck shipments come in they will have the Eggs.
It would have made sense to put 2 of each color in a case with 8, so a family could get a complete set.
I like the list of things overheard at Target. We should have some Top Ten lists, I bet they would be really funny, because you do hear/do/say a lot of crazy things when cars hunting

Walked into two different Targets in SW Washington in the last two days and they had all four of the colors. *shrug*
Thanks collectormom. Actually I was going to buy one to open and one to save but since I couldn’t find them, I just decided to get one to open. I’ll get the 3 pack when it comes out and keep that one as the “one to save”.
Call ahead..Some Target will hold them for you. Most will only hold it until closing and the next morning it returns back to inventory.
This may not help all but the Sparemint Crew Chief is coming in the 3-Car Gift Pack due out soon. I know completists will want the egg anyway but if you only want the Car itself and don’t care about packaging it’s another option for you.
I am so disgusted with Target. I have been trying to get these eggs since last week. I, of course, was able to get McQueen and finally found Spear (O) Mint but came up empty on Shiny Wax every time. I finally got so mad, I came home and bought one I ebay. I have spent more money on gas than if I had just bought them on ebay in the first place. Needed to share my misery with people I knew would understand my frustration.
Micky that just stinks; I do the math on gas vs. eBay all the time.

I have 3 Targets within 25 miles and have come up empty and not for lack of trying. Some people are just cursed.
I grabbed SpareMint crew chief today! It looked like they only got one case because there were 3 LM and one each of the others. I grabbed my one and left the rest.

I was there the first day as they were putting the Easter stuff out. One box was out, grabbed the SpareMint Crew Chief. Finished shopping, went by again and grabbed the 2nd SpareMint Chief from the second box they’d put out. I just can’t buy another Lightning, there’s one in just about every boxed set I own!
My Target just re-stocked…. So I was able to get Spare Mint Crew Chief.
Another SNAFU by Mattel…2 Eggs of each RAcer or colour per box wood have sold out instantly…not leftovers!!
Agreed. Went to three Targets on Monday, managed to find 20+ Red Eggs, 3 Yellow Eggs, 1 Green and 2 Blue.
Well you’re lucky! That is 20+, 3, 1, and 2 more than I’ve found!
Most targets in Nebraska have yet to get their first order, and have the gray circles on the tags, for out of stock items.
