There is a new two-sided CARS book from Disney Press …

There were/are several of these out but  this is new – with a pub date of January 13, 2009 … when you are done with one story, you flip it over to read the other story but as “Liam’sMom” notes …

“This new storybook introduces 2 new characters and they are both international, which made me wonder if they were characters planned for the upcoming movie, as it includes a race around the world.  The stories including these new characters are also the first stories I have read that are based in the future, as Lightning is living in Radiator Springs and has opened a race school with Doc.  The new characters are: Otto, a German racecar and Gudmund, a Swedish racecar.  Lightning teaches Otto how to race at his race school and Gudmund challenges Lightning to a race through a cave using night vision goggles.”

Yep – pretty telling because while the stories might not be from the forthcoming film CARS 2, every character has to be approved by John Lasseter & Pixar so it’s not like Disney Press can just make up characters.

So, it looks like we are getting an unintentional preview of some CARS from CARS2 …

So, while the situations shown here in the book might just be backstory that we will not actually see in CARS2 or in as much detail, it would be hard to bet that we are not going to see some of these CARS in CARS 2 especially since we know CARS 2 will feature a lot of global racing … Otto, German car and looking very much like the sleepy lid BMW 3 & 5 series from a couple years ago …

This certainly looks like one of the GT races popular the world over with different classification cars … looks like a Japanese tuner behind McQueen – running along side a Ferrari Tesstarosa or maybe the Porsche 959? Can’t tell from here ,,,
