Mattel Disney Pixar CARS: Shifty Drug Shifts Colors & Names
Shifty Drug was always strangely an incorrect color and even got an incorrect release in mostly RED before switching over the correct mostly PINK color.
“John H.” sends along some great photos of the corrected 2015 release.
He’s also been given his name back – other than the MSOS release, all the non-Big 3 releases were released under their sponsor …
So Kev’s in the pink now.
With his in-the-pink hauler.
With old “red” Shifty Drug.
The new Shifty Drug also loses his raised eyebrows.
Why was Shifty Drug released mostly in red when he should’ve been pink? At one point, they thought we wouldn’t buy a pink colored CAR … I’m totally serious so they swapped colors of Shfty Drug.

saw several of these on the pegs a few days ago but had no idea he was the correct color vs the one I have that apparently is incorrect. I never really noticed. Heres to hoping I can still find one. Ugh!

Pink seems to be a hard color match to the screen shot, the 2015 pink Shifty Drug is not quite right,and the Shifty Drug logo is still red. The haulers logo is pink so its correct. But the car and hauler still do not color match. So does the hauler need color overhauling?
The logo on mine looks pink, not red. But definitely not as light pink as the hauler and in the movie!
As if they would actually re-release the hauler in its correct color… lol

My hauler is definitely pinkish.
Rubber tire is redish. Plastic tire, not sure where from is redish. Might dig out my launchers to see what version..
MET, what do you mean by his “raised eyebrows”? Like his eyelids or something? Are they flush with the white part??

In your third photo down, and one further down, I see a raised area in the pink, right where it meets the white of his eyes….
I think that’s an effect of the glare or paint job, not an actual raised line. I have a new “pink” Kevin Racingtire, and there is no ‘eyelid’ like he had in the older releases (I compared him to a K-Mart rubber tired version).
Look at the 4th and 5th images which are side views, you can see here is no raised eyelid now.
Just checked, and I do see on my pink Shifty Drug that there is no line in the metal where the eye lid meets the whites of his eyes, so I see what you mean. But it doesn’t look like your photos above. Your photos above definitely show a raised area in the pink. So does that mean there is a pink variant with raised eyelids like the one in the above photos, too?
In the first 2015 case Shifty Drug is still red. In the 2nd case, (the one with a poster tucked under the car), Shifty Drug is pink.
Just got him in the 5-pack from amazon. First multi-pack I’ve bought, didn’t have all five cars. Even LMQ was a different version. Thanks Met! Never would have known about the 5-pack with you.
