Mattel Disney Pixar CARS Diecast: Next Toon – Radiator Springs 500
Well, if it’s not the next Toon, “Radiator Springs 500” is the next Toon with diecast releases – it’s own line extension.
This is not actually artwork from Radiator Springs 500 but from the Art of CARS …
Here’s the brief description:
“Iconic race locations with Lightning McQueen and other off-road racers.”
And of course, going by the diecast descriptions, it’s not hard to guess what kind of race the Toon is about … RS Lightning McQueen, Sandy Dunes, Baja Bug, and 2 others.
Obviously some sort of Desert Rally race with 4×4 type vehicles.
There are also plastic pullbacks and a playset.
No specific date but it seems to be early summer 2014.

Isn’t there a short story in one of the Cars books about this race?
maybe there will be a blue beetle with a cowboy hat
McQueen and Chick were released as 4×4 off-road racers in the Mini Adventures product line… that was one of my favorite sets of Minis… I don’t suppose that they’d finish the 4×4 off-road racers in the Mini Adventure series.
Mattel has never finished ANYTHING — their product planners must lead very incomplete lives.
Maybe a Baja bug mold will spur them to model the Easter Buggy.
