Mattel Disney Planes: The Marketing Tsunami Begins
No surprise, Disney is not kidding around to launch PLANES.
“John H.” sends along pics of his Target and what every Target in America will look like soon.
John H. notes, “The display has a Dusty on the backboard with an electric motor that spins the prop and on one side down low a control panel with three buttons to push to hear characters from the movie talk. This is a full endcap and two partial side aisles full of Planes stuff. A bicycle and plushies, the (empty) top shelves will get books and Pixar videos Monday) and everything else is Mattel diecasts and microdrifters.”
“We bought two three packs of MDs and the Quonset hut launcher. Holding back on three packs until we know the contents of the Target 10-pack. Looks like MD collectors will end up with many duplicate Dustys to collect everything else. Dusty is in most 3-packs as well as both released playsets.
Where MD Planes are mixed on the hooks with MD Cars, they are easy to find because the Planes packs have a light (sky) blue background. (white on Cars).”

Does anyone know the price of the die-cast planes?
They are priced differently at each store, but anywhere from $5 to $7 plus taxes. :–)
North Washington State… However price may slightly varies within the same store franchise…
Target and KMart $5.99
Walmart $4.88
Fred Meyer $6.99
Toys R Us $6.49

Haven’t seen this yet at Target, looks fun. I wonder if they’ll let me have the propeller display when they take it down?
Target is VERY protective of their displays. They will NOT give them out. From what I was told by store management a while back, sometimes they donate them to schools but most of the time they are on strict orders to destroy them …. kinda like Toys R Us … seems like such a shame to let AWESOME displays go to waste. :–/
(MET: Yea, the problem is there is “remove by’ date and they’re supposed to destroy it but unless you ask the right person on that date, it just goes in the trash …).
Hahaha nice Target their ! Our wally worlds and Targets have nothing , well at least Target has a few things, wal mart is a complete cluster.
My Target’s been like this for a couple weeks except the control panel is not working. I keep trying it though!
Must be made by the same geniuses who made the dysfunctional Cars 2 displays a couple years ago.

I was at my Target yesterday and this wasn’t out yet…but hopefully it will be soon!
my son saw the aisle at TRU and said, Hey, they ditched the cars for planes. He was sad!
My son is going to be so excited! He LOVES planes.
My kids will flip when they see this set up in our Target.
