Walmart Says Twinkies Back on Shelf TODAY
Apparently Walmart is breaking the Monday embargo by putting them out today …
And it’s a CHASE snipe! 🙂
“Wal-Mart had worked with Hostess to make special packaging with the words “First Batch” available exclusively at its stores.”
Bet you thought you’d never live to see the day there are FRESH TWINKIES!
Our long national nightmare is over.
And apparently we have new chemicals!
“Notably, the new owners of Hostess say that Twinkies now have a shelf life of 45 days. That’s nearly three weeks longer than the 26 days the previous company had stated for the cakes.”
Er, is this progress?
Was the old company leaving out them out in the Sun before distributing them or do we not want to know how they extended the shelf life another 3 weeks or how can you really tell “best by” is accurate? Or do we just not wanna know and just go nom, nom, nom?
By late next week, Wal-Mart says its stores will also have Hostess Mini Muffins and fried Fruit Pies.
Coffee Cakes, Ho Hos, Orange CupCakes, Suzy Qs and Zingers will be available by August.
Sno-Balls will arrive in the fall.
So, I guess you can’t fill an entire cart with new Hostess products just yet. I’m guessing the price of 5-month old hoarded Twinkies is dropping like a rock on eBay OR will it be like New Coke – that the new Twinkies not the same as the old ones. Well, if you get a box, drop us a review.

This story keeps reminding me of Zombieland, LOL.
Twinkies never stopped being available in Canada. Hostess had a contract with a company to produce them up there and I’ve been getting them in by the case for people here in NY who were jonesing for a Twinkie. Unlike their pizza, their Twinkies taste just as good as ours in the US.
(MET: Haha on the pizza … Any Canadian’s care to defend your pizza? 🙂 ).
Not Canadian, but my wife and I spent our honeymoon in Niagara Falls. There was a brick oven pizza joint on the Canadian side that made some of the best pizza I ever had. It was also the cheapest place to eat near the falls.
Ha, that’s funny. There’s a pizzeria across the street from my house and it’s always filled with Canadians buying pizza and taking it back to Canada. They say it’s just better on our side — something to do with us using real cheese over here instead of whatever stripped down, tasteless, odd smelling, more expensive version the Canadian government regulates them into using over there. But I can’t attest to it personally since I’ve never had Canadian pizza, I’m only going by what I’ve been told. I have however, had Canadian Bacon… I love ham!
I wonder if these will sell at outrageous prices on Ebay like other Twinkies packages…
Actually the prior owners switched to a 45-day shelf life LATE in the game. Also, some chains are having them delivered frozen.
Well now that we have these back… Life is good again.
