Mattel Disney PLANES: Target 4-Pack Lands + Updated Buying Guide

These are the only two box sets listed so unless a surprise pops up at WM or TRU, these are it (there are no 7-packs listed).
These are the only two box sets for now – there are two more scheduled for later in the year at Target.
I don’t think any of the singles are out yet so it’s hard to tell if it’s $7.99 or $6.99 but if you’re an opener completist, you’ll save $4 if these are $6.99 or $8 if the singles are $7.99. It’s impossible to say at this point if there will be “variant” eye positions but since the windshields on PLANES are so small to begin with, it seems pretty unlikely. As I have not seen every single or Gift Sets (with the Pitty and Tent), it’s hard to say with any certainty but again with the limited design space for the eyes, it seems unlikely they are going to spend too much time trying to move the eyes around except maybe for Dusty.
And in this store, more in the backroom! 🙂 And there’s the DPCI number.

So they cost a lot more than Cars and are smaller.
Am I missing something here?

Called the nearest Target to me and gave them the DPCI number for the 4 pack planes. They checked and said there wasn’t any out and checked with the backroom. They had 8 of them. I asked if they could put aside a set of each, they did. When I went to pick them up, I went by the car aisle first to see if I could find anything else new. I found Darrell with headset and the 7 piece set with Chauncey. Good car day for me. Thank you for those DPCI. With those numbers, you don’t have to travel to all the stores to eventually find nothing new. You will know which store to go to. Had I gone to that very same store-the planes would have not been out, but in their backroom.
The Mattel single planes and the 3 Gift packs: Dottie is big compared to Dusty I really like how detailed she is with her tool bag. El Chupbracabra’s pitty and BullDogs’s Pitty seems more in scale.

I just bought the 2-4 packs today at target. They look Awsome!!!! I really want to get the pitty’s sets but I am not sure it is worth the price and then I may return 1 of the 4 packs. The 4 pack with chug is Amazing ! I guess we will see on friday after going to toysrus.
Seeing now that Chug will be released as a single sorta changes my game plan a bit. I really want the pitties. So I’ll probably do the sets with pitties and the singles. I was considering the four pack with Chug but I dunno.
This all too hinges on how I like them in person. Disney Store ones look amazing to me.
I had the Mattel Singles in my hand Saturday at a Kmart. They Price Checked at $5.99 … took them up to the register and was turned away saying they could not sell them. Booooooo!! Maybe it is a sign lol
So if I buy the 2 four packs, the only single I should be looking for is Bravo?
wow, 2 different 4 packs with no duplicates between them, thats impressive.
I do have to say, as one who does not intend to collect the planes, that first 4 pack would have to be the one I would want – with the classic planes and the cool fuel truck. Other than that I am less interested.
The Corsair has always been my favorite WW2 airplane.
