Toys R Us: Top Holiday Toys 2012
This is what Toys R Us says will be the Top 15 Toys of the Holiday/Christmas season 2012 ….
Nothing on this list seems like people will fight in the aisles for them … especially the Toys R Us “Tabeo” android tablet for kids – sure, it’s only $149 but no kid above the age of 4 months will accept anything other than an iPad … and if they are 4-months old, you might as well hand them a towel they can gnaw on. I’m not even sure the Wii U will be a huge hit – for $300, even Nintendo can’t explain why you need a tablet with a stylus to play an upgraded Wii.
TRU is offering a reservation system for anything on this list. A 20% deposit will guarantee you one … though my sense is if they sell out, they’ll just give you your money back plus a 10% coupon.
So, anything on the list worth rioting for?

The Wii-u is actually real? Unless it comes with a Cars sticker, then no. Haha.
Supposedly the new and improved Furby is going to be a huge hit again this year. It is already sold out everywhere online.
Furby. Seriously?
When our grandson was 16 months old, we got him a LeapPad for Christmas… he really liked it… and our other grandchildren liked it as well.
Conspicuous by their absence on the list… anything Cars related.
They cost a little more, but an Amazon Kindle Fire HD or Google Nexus are a lot nicer. Kids can use them and so can adults.
That’s more what my wife is leaning towards. She knows way more about this stuff than I do. I’m just wondering if the LeapPad will be easier to use because my kids are so young. 2 years it will be out of date anyway. They still enjoy playing with the Leapster I got for their older sister 4 years ago.
I think what’s most popular is a combination of something people like and the artificial supply and demand created by the corporations and their controlled media. TV and newspapers will tell you what’s hot as always. Buyers usually don’t control what’s hot on their own. We are herded in certain directions.
Anyhow I have a feeling they will push the Furbys. As for Leap pad products- I tried a few and haven’t been happy with them.
We were out Cars hunting yesterday and I asked my 2 and 4 year old which “computer” they wanted Santa to bring them. A MEEP or a Leap Pad? They both wanted the Leap Pad.
I’ll put my money on the Leap Pad 2.
It seems juding from that list that there really isn’t anything too impressive; just old toys really rebundled in different ways. I guess the time is ripe for someone to come along with a completely new toy that will take the world by storm. Either that or Mattel could just rerelease the Apple I-car. 🙂
