Hot Toys 2011 According to BMO, Amazon, Toys R Us & Kmart

A $100 iPad-style computer tablet for the school-aged set is turning out to be one of the hottest, hard to get items this holiday season.

LeapFrog’s LeapPad Explorer is among a list of popular toys that could become scarce closer to Christmas, industry analysts said.

Besides the LeapPad, other hot sellers at risk include the Angry Birds Knock on Wood Game, Xia Xia Hermit Crabs and BeyBlade Metal Masters.

I actually started up an Entertainment Blog a few weeks ago, and am reviewing My Keepon for this week’s topic:

    http://theentertainmentnut.wordpress.com/2011/11/19/toy-review-my-keepon/

I’ve been looking forward to a consumer release for this cute little beatbot who was originally created as a study tool to observe children with social interaction disorders. However, when it started to rock out to music, many wanted one of their own.

Bunch of junk toys for sure.

The crab things will hang around like the zhu zhu pets which walmart has on for $1 for any zhu zhu pet, playset or clothes.

The leappad at $100 you can buy a more practical real tablet running android apps for around that and it can have a cdrom hooked to it LOL.

  • FireFox91 says:

I would be money that both the T-Pain mics and the Ultimate Optimus Prime are still around after Christmas. These “hot toy” lists are nothing more than promotional crap to goad parents in to getting those items.

(MET: You could be asking for a beating by mall cops … 🙂 ).

  • Tom says:

Amazing to see Cabbage Patch dolls still on one of these lists, it was the toy that started the whole “must have” phenomenon.
Oh and that T-Pain thing?!? Can someone explain that to me? I have seen stacks of them at TRU and thought “Who would buy that?”

  • 5oclockshadow says:

Eh. Looks like a bunch of useless junk really. No imagination this year.

Xia Xia Crabs take the cake. Now they manufacture all the toys in China; AND they give them Chinese names too just to rub it in. Just like Zhu Zhu pets.

Does the T-Pain Mic come with a ‘censored’ bleep button?

    • bobbyjack says:

The Xia Xia Crabs are made by the same company as the Zhu Zhu Pets. They realize they have rode Zhu Zhus about as far as they can and are trying to create the next big thing.

  • BMW says:

Monster High Fearleading 3-Pack from Mattel,
is not as hot as Abbey Spectra and Toralei.

  • MackDaddy says:

If Mattel would tune into the Take 5 blog, they would have several hot selling Cars toys on this list. 🙁
