So, if you’re headed there on the 12th, you can check the exhibit and bid often and early on LOT 144A. Good luck!
JUST SIGNED UP FOR BIDDING
Good luck, BBM. I’d sign up, but it’s gonna end up being too rich for my blood. I’d love to see a T5er win it, though.
Wow, wow, wow!
These are cool and the museum exhibit sounds neat too! I need to figure out how to get to LA on business so I can see these!
Oh, and I think we are still registered with Bonham’s from that Picasso we bought a while back 😉
They are FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cannot believe the money mongers at Mattel havent got dollar signs in there eyes and getting these into production. I would love a set as would many others.
That’s awful that all of us collectors have to look at Albert Hinkley produced but not get to actually have one. Despite being led to believe he would be released.
Is that why Mattel had that poll here about which cars would you like to see made? So they can make a cool charity set but not give the collectors who voted a chance to have one?
The 25% fee is ridiculous also. The winning bid should be the price.
Now wait a minute… If the red “ONE” ransburg deal went for ’bout $3000 four years ago…
And the popularity of these puppies has gone through the roof since then…
The idea of a one off of three separate cars offered on one single auction lets me think that some collector out there is gonna out-bid another fanatic collector out there for what could be close to ten grand….
That’s my prediction. $9999.99
(And not a penny more)
Actually the “one” Red Ransburg went for about 15,000.00 if I remember correctly.
It was $13,000, and the CEO of ToysRus bought it. More publicity bidding than anything, since he was the co-sponsor of the charity auction. Don’t think we will see the same happen here. Plus, there is always the possibility that these could still be produced which would hurt the value of this set considerably. I’d be really surprised if they go over $5,000.
Oops!!! $13,000!!!???!?!?!
My bad… So I guess a cool $19,999.00 is my new guestimate…
I can only dream of losing a thousand for it – so that puts me out of the running folks…
Happy bids!!! Best of luck!!
25%!!!!!!
Insert inappropriate language right about now…
So a $2000 item will cost $2500 Holy Kamoly
Wish to not have seen this post… Hurt to much…
On another topic, can somebody try to help me obtain Lego Rod Torque Redline’s stickers? I am in the process of making a Rod Torque Redline. Price will be discussed after the PM
Not to be a toad but if I am not mistaken….. The original McQueen desert art car did not come with the Rusteze logo on the rear spoiler??
anyone…..
anyone…..
I definitely would NOT say no to this set up – VERY SWEET!!
Touche!!! Nice observation jedi…
I wish I was RICH……..or could save money a little better!
Those RVs would be be awesome. Elvis and Barry are very lonely right now.
There are great, and will go for much more! Sort of a shame they’re not in separate lots. Isn’t 25% a pretty high premium?? I thought 10-15% was more typical.
(MET: At $1mm I think it drops to 10% which I’m guessing is the neighborhood you’re used to 🙂 ).
Just the catalogs I’m used to drooling over, Met ;^)
Totally AWESOME!!
The fact that now we know that they are actually out there but that we’re unable to get them actually makes the fact that they were never released hurt so much more.
Thank you note to Mattel for remembering those who made this line sell so well for the last 5 years.
WOW!! I wish I was a Doctor in LA that could swing by and BID on this!! What an amazing set!! Mattel …. ever heard of Matty.com … supposed to sell really cool limited run items …. kinda like these …. gesh if they made these and tossed them on Mattel.com for like $25 each, I bet they would SELL SELL SELL!!!
Jeffy, despite of that museum being 10 minutes from me, I am not going to bid on it…
but will see…
Christmas present??? lol I kid, I kid … but wouldn’t that be an awesome one for anyone’s collection! sigh …. come on Matty.com!! (though I won’t hold my breath lol)
Life-size Leland is Lot #304. 😉
Bubba is Lot #303.
This is nice.
Since Barry Diesel sold poorly, the likelihood of these being released to to the masses is very slim now.
Should be more like $2,500 – $4,000. (That 25% premium is a killer though.)
Will they ever possibly be made in die – cast form!???
they are amazing!!!!!!!! Now weres trev diesel at?
N E A T !
