The airport – yea, just a little impressive …
Airport Video …
Airport Finished …
At Night …
You can find a whole slew of their videos here.
The museum is in Hamburg Germany … if you’re following their footsteps, time to get cracking …
Now do it with cars- movie cars.
I see they finished the airport! This is definitely on my bucket list. I’m particularly impressed by the autonomous cars, which are based on the Faller Car System but with computer control.
FANTASTICO!!!
Looks like my drool bucket and I officially NEED to go to Hamburg now!
This is FLIPPING amazing!!!! Oh my goodness! I love it!!!!!!!! Pippi Longstocking!!!! I definitely have to find a way to Germany!
Does anyone remember the “working city”(for lack of a better description) that was on display as you left the Monsanto “theater” called “World of Tomorrow” at Disneyland back in the 70’s?
It was a functioning diorama of a section of a city, with changing lighting as it went from dawn to dusk and back(if I remember correctly), cars that traveled the streets, even a theme park with “functioning” rides.
I remember watching that every time we were there, seeing some new little detail every time.
Ahhhhh, the good old days.
Anyone else remember that setup?
Amazing tech for the time………..Met’s post brings it all back.
The model city you remember was seen after the Carousel of Progress theater presentation at Disneyland. A portion of the model still exists and can be seen from the Tomorrowland Transit Authority attraction in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Here is a video of the construction of the model:

PCC, I really appreciate you refreshing my memory. It’s been so many years, I guess the names of the attractions blurred a little.
Carousel of Progress, now I remember!
So, what remains of that diorama is now in Florida? Nice to know at least part of it still exists.
Thanks for the link! Much appreciated.
This page attempts to show which part of the original model is on display (and how much is missing):

Very sad that so little of the original masterpiece remains.
I remember having flashbacks of the Disney diorama when, in Iron Man 2, Tony Stark uncovers the somewhat dusty diorama from his father’s vision of the first Stark Expo.
Neat!
Sorry Ev, I beat you by 4 minutes but my comment is awaiting moderation. When does the Take5 Board of Directors meet again anyway? I want my comment approved and posted!
No worries… I really like dioramas and the airport diorama would be cool to do….( if only there was more time in my day…..) 😉
Hmm, this sure looks familiar Met! 😉
