Disney Pixar CARS 2 Diecasts: Japan Takara Tomy Playsets – Wicked Cool
On the surface, this giant McQueen doesn’t look much much …
But push down on McQueen and he OPENS UP INTO …
Yep, he opens up in a track! (see the video below for all its functions).
There’s also a Mater that converts into the oil rig!
They run about $65-$80 with the Yen to USD conversion … not including shipping.
Pretty cool.
AND they hook together!
Here’s the video of it in action!
There’s also a carrying case that folds into a garage …
There’s also a fun mat that folds into a McQueen shaped backpack or vice versa.
There are also Takara Tomy’s version of Everett & Siddeley …
Diecasts from this lineup – Yesterday’s post.
I appears there is a DVD/blue ray set coming out that includes
an exclusive
Mater ( kabuki version )
Lighting Mcqueen in some Japanese colored version ( not in movie I think )
and then regular
Fin
Holley
Mac
you can find it on Amazon Japan
absolutely love the mater/mcqueen sets. I hope they stay around awhile so I can save up for them.
I live in Japan and I would be happy to pick any of these Tomica Cars toys up for people at what the store cost is.
Warning though shipping is expensive .
I have done this for a few people over at carsthetoys.com
(MET: Nice. Thanks, To PM – go to T5 Forums Members Search – click on MEMBERS – type or copy ‘jamarmiller’ in the search box and then click PM. Thanks “jamarmiller.”)
Anyone know if I can order these online anywhere?
Awesome playsets, cool mostly metal diecasts….Mattel could learn a thing or two from Tomy.
These look awesome, a lot more “complications” than the play sets available here.
They have to be able to fold up, (storage) space is limited in Japan.
Odd how the video doesn’t show how easy or hard it is to transform McQueen into the playset. I also have to wonder how many kids will snap the smaller parts in half when trying to refold it into the vehicle.
(MET: It’s good training for the 300-piece Transformer Gundam figures they’ll be playing with in a few years. 🙂 ).
I reckon they are good quality materials and workmanship.
Looks like Siddeley gave birth to a healthy Mater, then flipped over and died.
Takala Tummy! Toneda!
😆
Like the oil rig a lot! Note the character face on top…
What they would have looked like if they were made in the 80’s in the u.s.
Amazing!
These are neat… maybe I’ll get a few of these one day.
