As you know, the TRU 5-packs are not exactly barn burners as the pattern has been 4 repeats and 1 new exclusive CAR …

Was she ever released?
(MET: Not yet, most likely she’s in a TRU box set coming this Christmas).
Nope 🙁 I actually completely forgot about this Car! It’s almost been a year since she has been announced for release, too.
any idea on wen or were she will come out???

Off topic for this post but today here in So. Cal. I finally found the
Kmart exclusive crew chief 2 packs,Carla Veloso and crew chief and
McQueen with Filmore with head set. I found them at four different
stores. It looked like they were fresh cases put out today as each store
had two Carla and chief and five or six McQueen with Filmore with headset.
Every card on every 2 pack at each of the four stores was folded over
the entire length of the card. Mind you two of these stores were 13
miles apart. I am not talking about a little crease but a deep fold,not
damage from packaging. It appeared as someone had purposely damaged all
the packages. Thats 32 2 packs all with the same damage. Someone has
a lot of time on their hands to go around and damage the packages so
that collectors will not buy them unless they are openers. I find it hard
to believe that many 2 packs could have been damaged in packing. Needless
to say I came away with zero 2 packs.
Darn Mark, that is awful. Sounds like there is a very angry person in your next of the woods. So sorry to hear. I know you wanted the crew chiefs for a while now.

P.S- I hope the guy gets caught. I know if I caught the guy he would be sorry. Security would be alerted and I would embarrass him while telling him what I thought of him. You can’t be messing with the cars!
These cards are damaged like that all over the country. I have found them in three different states and they all look the same.
Found a few in this condition in Chicagoland, and also found a few that were not creased severely, but have little corner dings, curves, and/or faint mecahnical-type imprint marks. It appeared to me that this stuff probably happened before the KMart employee opened the case.
(MET: Sounds like they were shipped in trays without a cardboard umbrella so as they got stacked on top of each, they got bowed inward … yep, part of the pallet KM swears they were not getting. 🙂 )
The curled corners was what I found everywhere. Hate buying them like that to trade. As an opener, I don’t mind because they will be trash, but a lot of people we trade with don’t open them.
Not so everywhere. Mine came from a New Mexico Kmart, and one from Pennsylvania.
All 4 were mint cards, Carla/Crew and Mcq/Fillmores. From the early cases, over a month ago.
Minty minty at both my kmarts…Pacakge in a box, similar to singles…no trays heres.
At least it’s good news….they are in Cali!! 🙂

The scene with Mcqueen, Francesco and his Mamma was one of the most memorable moments in Cars 2. Of most of the movie I vaguely remember certain scenes, but this one stuck in my mind.
Mamma Bernoulli will be a instant classic. Way to go.

Man, is she cool, and this was a great moment in the movie. Mattel is clever to devise ways to get eBay prices from us for essentially just 1 car. Clever in a Professor Z kind of way…
So, 6 months ago when I told you I had no intention of collecting CARS2 diecast, this kind of thing was EXACTLY what I was talking about. Best collecting decision I’ve ever made (in 20 years of diecast collecting). I don’t envy you guys who are trying to get a complete set of the cars from this movie.

I bought the TRU pack Tokyo Spy Mix-Up. I got it for $10 off on a special they were running, so I only payed $34 for it. I only kept Mater and the two dancers and sold all 7 of the other cars on eBay. People bid them up to $27 + I made a few dollars in handling fees. I basically got Mater and the dancers for FREE. Ebay is a great place to get rid of duplicates. I have gotten so many cars for almost free by selling the duplicates in the pack. Ship international. You would be surprised how many people out of country do not have access to common cars and will bid your cars up. This is exactly what I plan on doing to get this car if it comes in a pack.

I have way way too many doubles as it is. Cars 1 I only have 2 doubles.
I get the 5 packs only when they go on sale at TRU. Its cheaper than buying the exclusive in the pack loose on ebay, when you factor in the shipping cost.
Looks like another I WILL NOT BUY to add to my collection. WAKE UP MATTEL, you buy 5 to get one new mentality is getting way too old for this dude!!
I agree 100%. I won’t buy a 5 pack for 1 new car no matter how much I like that 1 car and I do like Mama Topolino. What a terrible strategy to try and milk loyal collectors Mattel. This has to stop.
All this strategy is doing is getting collectors used to not collecting them all and instead just buy what they can get for a reasonable price. Again though this is what happens when you only have a few giant global toy companies controlling the market. They make so much money anyway they do whatever they want. Lack of competition leads to this kind of thing.
It also leads to the packs being returned with the one good car missing. I see it more and more lately. Not that I condone it but when you try to take advantage of people they tend to not care either.
I heard there is a new reality show coming this Fall called “Extreme Shoplifters”. The first show is dedicated solely to Cars toys.

Another car I will need to get loose. Already have four of some cars, so the last thing we need is 4 more repeats. Cool car, I really like it, just not how it will made available.
