Disney Pixar CARS 2: Going to See CARS 2
Hey, whatcha doing this Friday night?
(SlicePie & son are ready. Thanks.)
Don’t worry – no spoilers but I will give you this advice for CARS diecast collectors. Just watch the movie – don’t glance about the screen looking at the CARS on the periphery … just watch the movie like a normal moviegoer … you will be tempted but don’t do it – just pretend you have NEVER heard of diecast CARS or any movie toys EVER. π
THEN go back and see it again where you can then check out out every square pixel … ok, it might take a third showing to take it all in and stay for the credits, it’s practically a mini movie in itself – in fact, I can tell you right now it’s a tie between CARS 2 or the Incredibles for the best end credits.
Yes, Todd, Pizza Planet is in the film but don’t look for him until your SECOND viewing – watch the movie! π
Also, make your bathroom run BEFORE the movie – there are ZERO minutes during the film where you can run off, so tough it out π … if the kids asks for something to drink, tell them they have to practice for desert camp. π
And don’t get there late – the TOY STORY SHORT is he-larious.
Don’t forget, your movie tickets are worth Disney Rewards points also … someone mentioned they could not figure out what theater was showing CARS 2 – you can jump to the Disney site (click on image) to jump to ticket purchase link page.
(and do NOT watch any more video clips of the film!)
And a heads up from Kevin NascarBronco … Visa Signature & Fandango will buy you a free ticket when you buy one ticket … (must have VisaSignature credit card). Thanks K-NB.
We went to the first showing at 2:45 today July 22nd here in Ireland. It was awesome! A real treat, my son is 5 and he guessed that the “big boss” was you know who way before me! Really bad reviews here but I think that they don’t really get Cars as the same reviewers panned the original as well.
Great scene in the market when Mater meets the headlight sales girl! If you recall the big gripe with the original was the location of the eyes and this just summed that up!
I will buy the Word Grand Prix cars but that is it this time as there are just too many of them. Going to see it again next week. LMQ looks fantastic, nice nod to Doc Hudson had a tear too there, the eyes scene, Eddie Izzard, London pub, sushi chef, Japanese toilet…. too many to name! Love, love, love it!
Ours is a tiny theatre $7.50 and 6.50 for matinee and on Tuesday buy a movie take another for a free showing, you do not both have to see same movie.
You can get a large pop and popcorn here for 6.50 add a candy for 7.50. Nachos are $2. We rarely do the concession stand.
I plan on going Tuesday only because surgery is on Monday to take out 2 pins in the ankle and replace with something else.
10 weeks since the car accident and I just want to walk LOL.
I loved it. My Daughter and I went yesterday morning and it was great. I think it’s getting poor reviews because it’s following 4 unbelievably perfect films and I’m not saying this one isn’t but it’s not a drama in any sense. It’s is a light-hearted good time with hilarious moments and an exceptionally well done mystery plot line (although I’m sure we all knew who the real bad guy was before we even saw it). The one piece of advice I didn’t take however was diecast counting. YIKES!!!! We are ALL going broke on this one. The variants for Mater this time around are going to be astounding. In one scene there had to be 9 different Mater variants alone. The Mcqueens from the first film will be Maters in this one. There were hundreds of characters and I could hear the cash register *ka-ching in my head for every single one of them. Also there may be no haulers this time around (except maybe the waste services hauler) but there will be boats and we’ll all have gremilns & pacers in every color overflowing our collectors cases. Oh boy, i better start stashing cash.
Just got home from the midnight showing. Well the whole visual experience was pretty cool. Overall C1 did a better job of developing characters though. Looking forward to going again with my son. It is very fast-paced, didn’t feel like 2 hours passed while I was watching it, which is good for kids.
post in wrong place……..Cars 2 we not what i expected…little dissapointing….
Took both my sons to see Cars2 last night. I had preview tickets for last Sunday but as HTW would know our football team was in town (We follow an interstate team) for their one and only visit for the year we had to pass on the opportunity to see Cars2. Hard to miss the football when they only visit once and also with my 8 year son being the mascot for our team and got to ran out through the banner with them.
The movie got poor reviews over here in West Australia for having a plot that was too complicated for kids. My 6 year old usually gets bored if does not understand films or they go too long. He gave Cars 2 his attention for the entire time so it canβt have been too complicated. We all loved the film and I thought it had a good message that my boys also picked up on.
We got a LMQ pop corn box and special cup that we have all kept. Wonderful film, simply wonderful. So many cars though, my wife is scared, real scared.
Our boy is in NC, so we will see the movie together Saturday afternoon there. I am going to see it solo tonight in 3D here in MD. $15!!! Good thing I have my $8.50 voucher from buying the blu-ray combo pack. Last time we saw a movie in the theater was The Informant! It was a rare date night and the missus and I both fell asleep during the movie!
Out today in Oz Taking the whole family tomorrow (wife pre purchased tickets yesterday) so this time tomorrow will be a very happy CARS fan. Will have seen CARS2 next stop Carsland Cali here we come.
No sodas for us during the movie. Don’t want to miss anything with a 3 year old going back and forth to the bathroom. We will be smuggling in a big bag of candy though! His choice!
I am going to see it this Friday as a late birthday present π I might even make it to the very first showing
By the way, is the Visa card deal for Canadians too?
Mrs. Stig and the Stiglets are taking me on Sunday afternoon (we have other commitments on Friday evening and Saturday). They gave me the tix in my Fathers Day card.
Wow, what a great Father’s Day gift!
We’re going Friday, first showing. I got 2 free tickets (up to $10. each) from TRU for spending $50. on Cars 2 Stuff. I bought the Gold & Silver FLF game and a few extra singles I wanted π
GASP!! you struck gold in FLA and you didn’t tell me!! π
I sent you an email right before I posted this. Go check your mail LOL π
Prices for tickets for Cars 2 and all other movies at our nearest theater:
Matinee(every day) $5.50
Evening Adult $7.50
Evening Student $6.00
Evening Senior $6.50
Evening Child(11/under) $5.50
$2.50 extra for 3D films
So, we’ll see what prices for Cars 2 end up being, as we’ve considered going to the MIDNIGHT showing Thursday night/Friday at 12:01 AM!
Ours are about the same — we’re seeing the 11:30am show (as well as the 2:00pm show) on Friday:
$6.00 for each adult
$5.75 for each kid
$2.50 extra for each person for 3D, but since we’re not 3D fans, that’s not a problem.
I had asked them about a midnight showing, but they don’t do that.
The Midnight show at this theater is ONLY in 3-D! π
Thanks for the reminder, Slicepie!! I got our advance tickets after reading this post.
Evanston, IL Friday (non-3D) matinee:
Child $6.50
Adult 6.75
minus 8.50 voucher from Cars Blue Ray w/ gold Crusin McQueen/Ransburg RS Mater
Total paid = $4.75
Wow our prices for movies are:
Matinee: $4.00 EVERYONE.
Non Matinee:
Adult: $7.00
Child + Seniors: $6.00
3-D: $2.00 Extra
So I guess it’s just where you live, because our tickets are CHEAP!
yeah, those are cheap! ours are 7.25 kids, 7.75 adults, and 3.50 extra for 3D.
Can’t wait to see Cars 2 but also can’t wait to get the non-3D Blu-Ray. π
Our tickets are 13.00 each for Disney Digital 3D. Midnight showing Thursday. It would be fun to go again, and see it in IMAX 3D too. The IMAX is across town, but maybe do that too later.
i would agree with met, don’t look at the background, you will miss to much. I did not see pizza planet truck the first time, met must have seen it his second go round. have fun and enjoy!
Exactly why I bought tickets to the first show, and then the show immediately after that one.
No kidding on the price. Could you imagine if it were an IMAX 3D? It would have been $17 a ticket!
So, $25 for the two tickets, plus $12 for a super nacho combo with a large drink, $8 for a bucket of popcorn, and $4 for a box of gummy bears. Not a bad way to drop a quick $50. π
I hope they at least have free, or 25 cent, refills on the popcorn and drinks???
$0.25 upgrades to the next bigger drink. If you get the biggest drink or biggest popcorn then they give a free refill.
…and we wonder why we have an obesity problem
Everything in moderation. We don’t hit the theaters that often, so get what you can for those outrageous concession prices.
(MET: Most theater chains will offer you concession discount if you sign up for their emails or download an app …).
Or get concession cash from Kellogg’s products
Holy Shoot!!! Are those tickets in Canadian or Australian dollars???
That’s why all these 3D movies are breaking all the Box Office records.
Last year here in mid-MO — where the economy is just a wee bit better than the coasts — mama and I hitched up the wagon and took the kiddies to see Toy Story 3 in 3D. I want to say it was like $1.10 for Adults and $0.45 for children.
Now of course, a barrel of popcorn was $155.00, the Kit Kat bar the size of a cafeteria tray was $80.00, and the IV of soda was $100.00, so I guess the theater owner made out pretty well on us.
It’s been a long time since you went to the cinema, John?? π
Going to see a matinee on Friday, taking my wife and 3 grandchildren… I’ve not been to a theater for quite a while… have ticket prices gone up that much? Dadgum! I may have to go buy the Cars2 Video game to get a free ticket.
It has been a long time for me since I saw a movie in the theatre also. I believe it was Avatar. The tickets were so expensive, the movie has to pretty special for me to go.
Going to see it Friday afternoon. If my son likes it, we will go again Saturday afternoon when we leave Kmart. Hope Cars 1 makes a return to theatres around here.
I’ll go to watch the movie this night!! HA HA HA
Now that is a ‘first’ π
btw, I am seeing it tomorrow!
This night? Where are you going?
I have to wait until the end of July!!!!
aaaaahhhhh….
He lives in Italy.
I think Met filmed it on his iPhone, and uploaded it to Luca. π
Italy is so close by…I can still make it…
Over here in Germany or even in the UK we have to wait.
Who is planning these opening-days anyway??
They dont need a translation in the UK- do they??
Don’t worry, you could probably already download it online.
Dodger, where are you in Germany? We live in Austria, at the border with Lindau (well, 15 min. drive).
