Disney Pixar CARS 2: Disney Stores CARS 2 CARS – Boxed & Ready for Action
While, they are not available online yet, they are beginning to appear at most Disney Stores.
The 1:32 ish scale CARS from the Disney Stores.
It looks like the ones on cards are all being retired and will now only be released in individual display boxes (or in box sets). The first releases in the box were only available at the re-launch Disney Stores but now it looks like all Disney Stores will only get this configuration from here on out.
Like the original releases, these are solid diecast metal and now, comes with the classy display case.
There are are “repeat” releases that look like they are the same except for the new box decaled with the CARS 2 logo.

But it should all be soon as the DisneyStore.com has changed over the main CARS banner to feature CARS 2 CARS.
The CARS 2 plushes look very cute and make me sleepy …

Just got back from a trip to the Disney Store to check these out…I think they’re a great value at $6.50 with the display box, which is not cheap-feeling and really display-worthy. (Though I’m an unboxer.) I really liked a lot of them, but after going back and forth I ended up with…Vladmir Trunkov. Go figure…just liked him. These should be on sale soon…2 for $10 like the others often were. (They had a ton of all of them.) There’s a lot of nice design with these new characters!
I got all of these the other day except for Sarge and Acer. They look really cool and the cases are really nice.
How much are these? They look so nice!
But I still think I am going to stay with the 1:55s. There are so many more in that line and I do not have the money to start another one! And like Buckland Blowout stated, I don’t think these new Disney store ones could ever be as special as my “first love”!

I went to the Disney store at Flatirons mall, I picked up 6 of them. The cost is $6.50 each or 2 for $12.00’s. Not bad. They are pretty cool. The funny looking Mater does have a head set on, so I had to get him. They just put these out yesterday morning. I think I did see a Mustangburger. If someone wants me to pick some up and if they are still available, let me know. GAILAS@msn.com
I picked up LM this morning…nice case…the others were less impressive, especially the villans…very flat looking in the rust areas…no depth to the eyes like the Mattel cars
also,why is Mater always such a dark brown…he looks like monkey poop…
The pics don’t show Ramone, painted up like the union jack…he is also available..
Maybe “Monkey Poop Mater” is the next Tall Tale.
He figures out how to fling it using his tow cable!

What’s the consensus on Red to go into a Mattel 1:55 collection, is it better to get the Disney store version or the new Cars 2 version?
(MET: I think I did a comparison between the old Red & DS Red but now i guess I’ll have to do a three way comparison).
Met, I think you recently compared old Red with Red 2, but not Disney Red… 😉
(MET: There should be a much older post of Red 1 with Red DS. I’m too sleepy to type in my own search bar 🙂 ).
And the “real” Tomber, comes in with a blue “Ape” just like the yellow Ape and Prof. Z
Mine have arrived and the best thing about the new packaging is the damned sticker is attached to a clear plastic bag and not the display box.
Just want to clarify this; Fillmore is not really a repeat since there is the small LMQ 95 logo on it and the background card is different (Tokyo layout). It should be called “Race Team Fillmore”. Same applies for Sarge. However Red and Sally are a duplication of the line 1… in front of FLO’s cafe.

I placed my order at the online Disney Store last week for Francesco and Sarge. I like this stackable version much better than the cardboard monstrosity they released previously. They are due in today so I’m psyched.
Yeap..looks like every Diney Store will have them, they got rid of the “red cardboard” ones by sending them to their outlets.
By the way..there are 20 of these Cars 2 released so far!
Has anyone seen Brent Mustangberger in the stores yet. I’m not collecting Cars 2 but would love to have Brent(s) for our diecast Mustang collection. 😉

These look great … but … I will still resist collecting them. Toooooo much going on with the Mattel’s!! 🙂
My sentiments exactly. Easy pass. Just way to much Mattel stuff already with much more to come.
The last thing we need is a whole different line of the same Cars.
The different background scenes are a really nice touch. I picked up a Miles Axlerod to be our play copy, and a Darrell to add to Baby Manifold’s future Piston Cup Racers (our only Disney scale collection). It appears that they used the same weird face on this new Mater as the Cars 1 version. I think it must be the eyes that make some of these Disney scale cars look wrong, especially on Mater. The Cars 2 cars seem to be better considered though.
Yeah, it is so weird how they can’t get Mater to look quite right.

I agree – these are real nice!! Love the packaging and very classy looking! I’d say definitely geared more toward the collectors…
These cars look awesome. The only reason we didn’t start collecting these in the beginning is because for some reason, Mater just didn’t look “right”. Something was definetly wrong with him. We bought a few that would go along with the 1:55 like the tractors, Frank, and the Dinoco helicopter. My son broke the helicopter and 3 tractors. Out of the 150 or so 1:55’s we have, he has only broke one so far. He snapped the rear axle on a purple Ramone. And since they are available everywhere, he was easily replaced. If I was just going to keep them on the shelf and not play them, I would go with the Disney Store Cars. But since we get on the floor and play with them every day, we are sticking with Mattel!
I always thought Mater looked weird too. I noticed he looks much better for the Pirate Mater and Goofy Mater though

We only want Pirate Mater and $10 for the toy and $10 shipping is a bit too much right now. Gotta save up for May 16th!
I like the display boxes… and I could possibly see myself getting a couple of them for display purposes… but it’s going to be awhile… too many 1:55 Mattel Cars coming out… the spirit is willing… but the wallet is weak.

These may be a good option for you. Also, you can’t beat the ease of storage, and the nice hard packaging.
Saw the plush CARS 2 cars at the DS last Friday. Stig Jr. decided to spend his allowance at the LEGO store, though (two Wave 4 mystery minifigs and a pick-a-brick bucket full of Hero Factory parts).
Funny, we also filled a pick a brick bucket with HF parts last week. My kids treat the HF figures like the minifigures, they take them apart and make their own figures. I think our Indiana Jones minifigs have had every job under the sun, even a spaceman!
Yep, he sure does! Though I think he’s still more interested in customizing his minifigs. Once he figured out that he can not only swap the hair, head and legs but the arms and hands, too, there was no stopping him! His latest creations include the principal characters from the current season of “Doctor Who” — Matt Smith’s 11th Doctor, Amy Pond, and River Song (sorry, no Rory!).
FWIW, Ape is a closed-cab Vespa Ape (pronounced “Ah-pay”). Tomber is a Reliant Robin.
Thinkin’ these would make a nice replacement for not collecting the main 1:55 line…
