Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS 2: The Double Decker Bus is Sterling
Like the real old school London Double Decker Bus, this is one sweet and cool looking ride …
Like the real London bus of yore, it’s all plastic underneath and metal on top … ok, maybe you can’t believe every press release. π
Yes, the oddity is the ground level (below the yellow line) is plastic and it’s diecast metal above – it’s a bit odd but it actually works and looks fine and nice … it has one advantage in that if you’re going to roll it around, your natural inclination is to grip the top area so it being metal means you won’t squeeze too hard and crack it … so it works on a lot of levels. Sure, it would be great if it were 100% diecast but it’s understandable and doesn’t distract too much on a lot of levels. It’s still quite hefty and quite large …
No, I called you a lorry, not Lori. You Americans are daft.
Do Brits use ‘crickey?’ I thought that was more Aussie?
If we spelled tires like that, we’d have to pronounce it Tie-Res … though that is kind of fun to say.
You can even use it with your Greenlight figures … and of course, once CARS 2 actually comes out, we’ll know if CARS rides buses (to rest their weary ty-reses) or if buses are just ginormous CARS …
And interestingly enough – held together by screws and not rivets … so customize?
His name is Topper Deckington III, but have you seen the Queen, Prince Wheeliam, SGT Highgear and the British taxi Chauncy Fares ???? I am telling you line 2 will be great!
Plastic lower half with a diecast upper half; maybe Pixar should’ve named the bus “Tomber”…
TRU GOT jeff and carla

It’s like trying to believe in Santa when you know he doesn’t exist… They fooled me twice with Shiny Wax…
OTOH, a friend of mine ordered Bye Bye Kars from TRU and somehow, unbelievably, by the grace of God, actually got Bye Bye Kars. Miracles do happen, quercy. You just gotta believe.
(MET: Wow, that is amazing – guess even TRU is out of Lug & Nutty).
The town I grew up in, Plymouth, Michigan had one of these. It was used to shuttle tourists during the Fall Festival and to haul school kids to field trips. We kids got a real hoot out of sitting up top on the expressway while semis passed and we went under bridges. That thing had a manual transmission. Was probably never intended to roll down I-96 at maximum speed for 30 miles!
Yep ‘crikey’ is certainly an aussie word. The classic being ‘crikey bill’.
I am always saying to my boys when something goes wrong, I make an error or they say/do something that is bit weird, strange or funny ‘crikey bill from broken hill’
Im going to use that saying π
“crickey theyre ace”, think “blimey theyre ace” might sound better.
Refering to the top of the post, dont think crickey is used that much, but I have heard “crickey almighty” quite a bit, mostly on radio phone ins, you can get away with saying that instead of c….. almighty, which would be frowned on.
First heard the word “ace” in Manchester in the 70,s, means excellent, beezer, stickin out, etc
its rather suiting to see ‘Crikey’ on the old route master as its an old saying.
I’m guessing the window in front of his eye would be a monocle so he’ll be well spoken old timer, then a new London bus would more modern etc.
Whats funny is on the packaging is the number 13 bus but the actual diecast is the 91.
I get the 13 every day to central π
Noyce! Vewy noyce!
Unless the bus carries cars, it makes no sense. PIXAR has already said that the CARS world has no people.
Taxis serve as guides.
Bus have probably the same functions. May be they also transport cars, but their windows are as opaque as the one of any cars from the Cars world, which should not be if it was possible to enter in.
I like the ads “TRAFARGEAR” in lieu of “TRAFALGAR”… I love those little details from CARS design. I guess only the flying beetle (Bugsaroundus I believe) are the possible passengers…
I think buses and taxis (and all cars for that matter) actually do carry people in the Cars world, but what we see is just the perspective of the vehicles. They go about their day observing all things Cars, and just donβt see the people. Know what I mean?
I think these cars exist in a parallel universe that is similar to ours, but just a little different. Maybe in that universe, the cars realized that they didn’t need humans anymore, got rid of us and this is what their society has evolved into.
I envision something from the end of “The Sixth Sense”, where all of a sudden Lightning or Mater realize that people have been among them all along. …and thus begins “The Incredibles 2”. π
The Cars world is simply a world that is not related to ours.
It that world, cars and all motored vehicles are alive. Although it may seem somewhat illogical, it’s a world like that, it’s fun, and that’s all.
(MET: My theories HERE).
Just got my Deluxes and Cars2 cars today. So cool. I don’t know if i can wait till movie comes out to give them to Diego. Is a way to long to wait π
Sweet ride!! It is sure to be a very good seller. π
These die-casts are available in any London Tourist shop! just use tipex and a black marker for the eyes.
Better put this one on your list for the 16th because I don’t see it as a peg warmer anytime soon.
I hope DD is a “kneeling bus”, as that girl will never be able to get on with here feet attached to that base! π
I have it… It’s cool… it’s the same height as the trailer on a hauler… it just fits in a compartment on a Carney Plastics CP-21/24 display case… 1 in the display case, 1 to keep carded, and 1 for my grandchildren to play with… I won’t get as many of the other Deluxe Cars2 Cars.
GRANDCHILDREN LOL ITS OK CHRIS WE KNOW ITS YOU THAT PLAY WITH THEM , HEY EMAIL ME IF YOU GOT A CHANCE GOT SOME INFO FOR YOU
Double Decker couldn’t be any bigger and still fit in the Deluxe packaging. He fills it right to the edges.
When I sent a pic to my wife of the contents of the Deluxe case I was able to get my hands on, the first words in her text reply were “Too cool. LOVE the bus!”
I agreed with her 100%, DD Bus is “too cool”!
Oh this is one sweet vehicle all right. When I brought home the Cars 2 deluxes for the first time my son went right for the bus first. He had to open it right away. Very nice. I have a feeling depending on how many cases they include the bus in that this will be hard to get one day.
Yeah, I saw that Joey said that too, but I’m not sure I buy it. It’s already in the first two Mega cases. Chances are we’ll get sick of seeing these on the pegs….
Jack, I agree with you. At ONE per case, he won’t be a pegwarmer, as kids and adults both will grab him up quickly.
Plus, with the number of Cars 2 die-cast coming, you never know how many will be shipped out before they move on to completely new case contents, with no repeats.
I think BMW said there would be 2 in the next case.
Case B is what I meant to say.
It very well could end up being hard-to-find. Who ever knows? But it is already in the first two cases, and chances are we’ll see him in more.
Case A Mega 6 per case OVERSIZE CASE V2843-999A
[2]#1 Submarine Finn McMissile
[2]#2 Holley Shiftwell with Wings
[1]#3 Red
[1]#4 Double Decker Bus
Case B Mega/ Oversized Contents
[2] #1 Submarine Finn McMissile
[1]#2 Holley Shiftwell with Wings
[2]#3 Red
[1] #4 Double Decker Bus
Can’t wait to get my hands on one π
Meee toooo..!!
Nice but really under scaled. Looks like John, Paul, George and Ringo might step off. π
Proper scale has to give way to reality when the packaging is only so big. π
Nice!!
