Yes, you can actually upgrade your digital camera’s firmware – whether you want to or feel comfortable enough is another matter …
Look up your particular camera and your particular model – then read the firmware upgrade description if you feel it’s worthwhile to upgrade … for instance, if it offers only the addition of Hungarian and you don’t speak Hungarian – you can safety skip the upgrade. 🙂
Then look over to see if you feel comfortable enough with the instructions … some are WIN PC’s only, some let you copy onto the SD card to run it , others require the USB cord … so gather up your tech support team.

No firmware updates for my Canon Powershot A590, which is probably good for me. I’ve never taken any pictures on any settings other than Easy or Auto. Those setting work fine for any pics I have taken.
I found a Canon powershot SD900 at a hotrod show on the ground next to my truck.
Love this camera, takes great macro shots.

I dont see a link for Minolta Z1 or Z2 which are great cameras too
I’ve updated the firmware on my Nikon CoolPix 4500 – it went well… I might upgrade firmware if it enabled me to use larger capacity cards… good points though – if it’s not broken, don’t fix it.
Sounds a bit too risky for me. I agree with John. It ain’t broke so I ain’t trying to fix it.
I could seeing having to buy a new camera because the upgrade didn’t go well.

Sometimes if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. The firmware upgrade for my camera (a Panasonic) is notorius for disabling the camera’s ability to use third party rechargable batteries. (which are about 60% cheaper than Panasonic’s own) The firmware offers no other “improvements.” Worth checking Amazon’s product reviews for your camera before applying any upgrades to see how other users like them first.
