Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Expanded Universe Everything Released Complete Checklist
Yesterday we covered the complete “mainline” from 2006 to 2011 – here is the Expanded Universe CARS – Toons & Storytellers releases.
Again, this is an opener checklist so “repeat” releases from the mainline are not listed here, only releases with no mainline release – for instance, Flo was only released on card with the Storyteller series but open, it’s the same CAR so she’s not listed here.
While there are several additional CARS that seem to have been available overseas, officially, El Materdor is the only official release not available in the US so any others are simply speculation at this point.
There are 112 Expanded Universe releases – and this is not counting all the versions released of Lug, the Pitty with slight eye or mouth variations.
So, as of right now, the reasonable official count stands at:
323 Mainline Characters
101 Lenticular Characters
112 Expanded Universe Characters
So, you should have about 323 to 536 as the count for a “complete” collection.
How many of you can check ’em all? 🙂
Sweet list as always thanks and time for me to check my list before Cars 2 stuff starts coming out.
the Rescue Squad Mater of the 4-pack is different of the RSM in card 😉
there are 4 RSM 😉
i have them all

(MET: Yea, his eyes are different position but I didn’t really consider it a major variant so not listed but of course, most people have him anyway 🙂 ).
I still want a list of all the major variants. Please!
(MET: well, anything that is ‘doubled up’ on the list is considered a ‘major variant’ – of course, it’s all subjective. 🙂 ).
I actually meant a “book” like the other magazines. I would totally buy that. All of them from Cars 1 and Expanded Universe.
Thanks for the list. Wouldn’t it make more sense to group them by TOON or book rather than in alphabetical order though?
Thank you for the checklist. Can check them all off except Tansou.
Couple of questions about Toons releases.
Any ideas why #9 El Materdor hasn’t released stateside, while Padre and and Chuy were?
Mia Senorita and Tia – Is there going to be a Mattel version or only at DS?
Since El Materdor #9 and #7 DD with flames are pictured on the back of Chuy, are these still on any lists for the USA?
Good questions … inquiring minds want to know!! 🙂
Mattel knows the answers’ Probably.
Nice avatar, Taylor.
Thanks for another great comprehensive list…
I know I chose not to buy the 4 pack with Buck Tooth Mia and Tia and another only release… but I think those are the only released ones I don’t have… I don’t believe Tansou has been released yet… or it might have been released under a different name… Time to get Private Eye Mater to do a little investigatory work…
can’t find the Mia and Tia from Mater the greater on the list ??
Also have a question is Cannonball Mater the one with “smoked” look or the one with rocket? Seem to be 5 variations in my collection but can only find 4 on the list…or do I overlook one? Can find cannonball, high dive, aviator and the greater variationon on the list.
Thanks for the list…evening of fun 🙂
(MET: I’m going by the name on the packaging so if I recall correctly, the “burnt” Mater is Cannonball … whoop, did I lose a couple Mia & Tias? Look for a fix in the next update – sorry).
Thanks Met…..time to get busy…I might get CARple Tunnel Syndrome from all those check marks!
oh I just can’t wait for the new cars 2 toys !!!
We got 39 of these. 168 from the mainline for 207 total. Wonder how many there will be for Cars 2?
51,237
If we continued to collect cars at our current rate of 13.8 per month,(which is about all we can afford), it will only take 309.4 years to collect them all!
legacy, legacy…
Thanks for the awesome checklists!! I think it is going to be a busy weekend of cross checking 🙂
I’ll be checking them all over this weekend. Please note this is one job on the to-do list I look forward to.
Who is Tansou?
(MET: Squirrel).
That’s what I am wondering!! Time to go on the hunt … just wonder which country I need to go to to find him. 😆
Maybe Tansou is the car actually pictured in the screen shot for Tabinu. If you look, the red and white colors are reversed. That would make sense, because they made 2 cars out of almost every other mold in the Tokyo Mater line.
Maybe Dr. Mater ordered Mattel to have its Tansou’s removed. 😆
OK, seriously now, this is what Met recently posted as Tansou:

Tansou’s removed – ouch! Heh heh. I’m suffering from Tansouitis. Actually, since we don’t have Tansou, we are suffering from Tansou-aintis. What’s the condition called when the Bye Bye Kar seems unattainable? Something like, Applesquitis?
Funny! 😛
