Completists, take note – not for track or packaging but the diecast.
It is the ONLY place to get a diecast 2-piece classic Lightning McQueen – non-moving eyes version.
Of course, Lightning is available as a 2-piece (front face plate separate piece) as a lenticular.
Also note – this is the ONLY remaining playset-track set that comes with a metal diecast CAR. (all others include a plastic car now).
For sharp eyed collectors, you might also note that this is “uncorrected” no-logo spoiler old-school version … so it’s not a variant of a variant if you care.

I was reading on a old post (http://www.takefiveaday.com/2009/10/23/mattel-disney-pixar-diecast-cars-the-lightning-mcqueen-only-visual-checklist/) The McQueen 2-piece variant was “retired” but we all know it is now back on the shelves a little bit than 2 years later… So we should never assume any die cast as “retired” until they are really “retired”… Sounds like Yogi Berra… 🙂
I got my diecast 2-piece classic Lightning McQueen at TRUs. I can now checked the little square off my T5AD Cars Collector’s opener checklist volume 1 – version 1.0 ! 🙂
I have not checked but do any of the Final Lap McQueens have the segmented front?

Just found this on pixar wiki -Owen Wilson Returns in Season 3
lary the Cable Guy, Lindsey Collins, Elissa Knight, and others all reprised their voice roles from the movies. The only one who did not return was Owen Wilson, who’s now replaced by voice actor Keith Ferguson as Lightning McQueen in seasons 1 and 2. However, Wilson will return to voice Lightning again in season 3. Archive recordings of George Carlin were used as Fillmore.

YET!!!!
This and the Piston Cup 500 returned. Funny since I dreamt they’d both return in night skyline packages, and they happened. Also dreamt about a Nitroade pitty many years before it was announced, and then a week later, it was announced and it looked just like in my dream. Odd.
Time to dream about Albert Hinkley?
