Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Artie – Last Lenticular 2011?

Nick of ToyzandGamez UK sends us pics of lenticular Artie …

Is he the last new release of lenticulars for 2011?

Is he the last “new” lenticular release for 2011? Forever and ever or just until 2012?

The CHASE has arrived in the UK also …

This looks like the contents of the last listed lenticular case … looks like a farewell tour for the townies … for newbie CARS 2 buyers to catch up?

Thanks Nick.

    I ment Mattel.

I think Mttel is using some old designs for a good profit. They took Snot Rod, removed the engine block, filled the hole the engine block was in, gave him a new name and new color scheme! Mattel did something awesome for once!

Good ideas, as long as they are not packaged as deluxes. They would be a good way to start up the Final Lap collection again in a few years.

  • bobbyjack says:

Does anyone know if these case contents are still accurate? I want to know if I see these on the pegs, if I missed the Chase or not.

  • Hostile Takeover Banker says:

Any chance of a final checklist Met, o great one?

I was told by a Wal-Mart employee today that Cars Toons and the Mega size would NOT be sold by them anymore. Both have been out (at least at my local WM) since before Christmas, and they indicated there are no more in the warehouse, none on order, and some type of code indicated they are discontinued. Not sure what to do with this information…?

(MET: Different WM’s have different “plan o grams,” and your particular store might be the one that carries fewer toys … hopefully you have another WM in your area).

  • Change is the one thing that makes the world go round. Bring on the next new old, old new thing. Everything always seems to be a re-hash of something else.
Lenticulars allowed the kids to enjoy cars, if not for those, the adults would have never let the kids get a dang car. The lents allowed them to get the hard to find cars and characters.
Everything it seems has it’s purpose and it also allowed my wallet to get fat again.

    Bring on Cars 2 baby!

Frank getting 50 bucks now on ebay, OUCH!

Maybe we need a Lenticular of Frank… lol

This is an interesting theory, that lenties are less valuable on the secondary market and thus make it easier for your average kid fan to obtain characters from their local store. I’m sure it must be true in some cases. There are certain characters that still seem to immediately get snatched up for the secondary market, and thus make it hard to obtain at a local level. I’ll give you an example from Chicago,IL…. one night I entered the nearest WalMart just as a local eBay reseller was shopping for toys. This Walmart was at the time stocked with 3 or more cases of lenties, and this was a case that had Boost. He put every Boost in his cart, thus clearing the shelves of the Boost character. Within the next month, I was standing at the Cars aisle at a nearby Target. I had found one lenticular Boost, and was holding it in my hands, thinking to myself, “if it’s this hard to get a Boost locally, maybe I should pick this one up as an extra to replace Manifold Jr’s in case something should happen to his (our only one).” Just then, a family with a young boy walked toward the Cars aisle. The dad saw Boost in my hand and said, “Oh, dude! You have no idea….” I replied, “Yeah, I do. I have a 3 year old who loves Cars.” Of course, I handed him the car. Just think, had I kept this one as an extra, to trade, or to sell on the secondary market, this boy who loved Cars and Boost in particular would be deprived of that simple pleasure of walking into the toy store and coming away with that joy. That very thing is going to happen, be it a Cars car with lenticular or with classic eyes.

        Lovely story Dude!!!
I always run into “collectors” in the store lookin’ furiously like me for those treasures that their “Kids” collections are missin’…

They are always happy to know that there are other people hooked on these little guys and I always try to give them as much info on where to find what they need.

The last one I helped was lookin’ for Mater – Of all cars!!! McQueen is in the hundreds but his awesome trusted side-kick-dude is never anywhere to be found?!?!?!?

        • Man-I-Fold says:

Yep, treasures for kids – little kids, and really big kids lol! You just reminded me of an example of a hard to find classic character that’s been fairly easy to find in lenticular form… Milton Calypeer! 🙂 Speaking of Milton, he is one of the lenties whose lenticular feature actually works pretty well. For some reason his eyes tend not to form the three-eye/four-eye phenomenon that makes lenties so unattractive. Mater with glow-in-the-dark lamp is also pretty successful.
Were Richard Kensington and Marco Axelbender the only Megas to feature lenticular eyes?

          • cac1959 says:

Had more lenticulars had eyes like Milton Calypeer, Mater with glow in the dark lamp, and even Sarge and Fillmore, both of whom had eyebrows that moved, there would have been less resistance to lenticulars… I bought way more lenticulars than I intended to, because often that was the only “new” Car available for purchase.

Antonio and McQueen with Rust-eze can were the 2 worst in my opinion…

And I think that Marco and RCK were the only 2 Deluxe Size Cars that were released as lenticulars… so far…

I also wonder why Lizzie never was released as a lenticular?

  • BMW says:

I collected the very first lenticulars, and put them away in a box.
Never looked at them again. The original characters, as they were the same ones as the desert back 12 cars.

  • Chris with tray says:

Wait, you guys don’t like lents? Since when?

  • Mariela says:

Like we need more lenticular Sarge 🙄 That’s the only car hanging on Walmart right now!

  • PVHauler_16 says:

I hope this is the end. Good riddance. DRIP LEnts (Don’t rest in peace.) They should be burning up the nights in #€!!

  • Mr. T says:

Ditto!! Done with Lenty’s although I have a few polluting my collection…. 🙁

  • Fillmore1234 says:

On a side note for Cars 2, profiles for Rod Torque Redline and Siddely are now out, and three new racers have been identified. Max Schnell, Miguel Camino, and Louis Hamilton have been discovered, but i don’t know what they look like.

  • Dunroamin says:

    sad sad day…I liked them…oh well…

  • Mcmean says:

I doubt this will be the end, unless they bring back the fixed eyes. There are kids turning 2 everyday and cars 1 will be new to them and they will want them.

  • Rippers says:

I predict one more case in the UK with Yeti Chase, I think they could be a delay in time between the UK and US as the film is shown a month after the US.. but this is Mattel who knows.

I do know a UK seller with International packaging; Music Video Mater, Padre, Ben Crankleshaft, Oliver Lightload, Miles Malone and Leroy with Snow Tires so we have lots to look forward to still

  • I hope that’s the last lenticular case cause I hated them anyway.

  • boogity says:

this wont be the end of lents at all, cos theyll make a final appearance with cars 2!

  • NascarFan says:

I won’t be sorry to see them go

  • Alex says:

Lets all hope this is the end of lents.
