San Diego Comic Con 2011: Crazy Ticket Sales
Okay, no wonder the system was down and out in San Diego …
On Saturday, Comic-Con International 2011 sold out in 7 HOURS (200x faster than last year if you’re keeping track). Needless to say, the demand was unbelievable, reaching a peak of 403,000 page requests per minute and a total of more than 35 million total page requests throughout the day. But while the event sold out in record time and the system never actually went down, things didn’t go as smoothly as we hoped. We are sorry for the frustration our system issues caused on Saturday and we are working hard to answer all of your inquiries.
Holy snickey!
In other words …
In 2009, it sold out after 6 months. In 2010, it sold out in 2 months. On Saturday, Comic-Con International 2011 sold out in 7 HOURS.
The most important info …
When will tickets go on sale again?
At this time, Comic-Con International 2011 is sold out. As refunds are processed, more tickets may become available to purchase at a later date. Please refer to Comic-Con’s website, Facebook page or Twitter page for the latest updates.

See ya if you’re going!
anyone have tickets that they cannot use? let me know please. lilmissyfaith@yahoo.com
They can not be resold because you have to provide the name of who will be using it. No way for a person to buy and try to rip someone off. The only tickets available later in the year will be for those who have got a refund. They have never been sold at the convention. At least not in the last 6 years. There will be another sale date after the last day for a refund passes. This by far was the most stressful year to date!
I have personally seen people selling off the days they wont use and people using the badges, They do sell the NEXT years paperwork at the show, but no “open tickets” for the same year.
I don’t know why they wont but oh well
(MET: You can buy the 4-day pass for the following year – that is the only ticket they sell … as for reselling badges … they will look at the name on the badge and at your face, so you’re a guy and the badge says ANNIE or you look like Conan O’Brien and the badge says Matsui Natamoto … they will politely ask you to show some ID … you can either raise a fuss or run away 😆 … so if you buying a bootleg badge, make sure it passes a basic smell test).
Let me clarify my statement. They have never sold tickets for the current covention. They alway presale the next year at the convention.
Not sure why this year. but stinks that they had some idiot company do tickets this time
The last 2 years running they have had passes available on their site the week before and easy to get. I got mine in July at the show, but they can be bought at the last minute without being ripped off.
Is this thing popular or something? 🙂
