Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Wrestling CARS – Both Scales (REPOST)
There is some confusion about the scale of the two lines of Mater Tall Tales Wrestling CARS since they actually look pretty similar … but there are three key differences …
The 1:43 scale versions look something like this. They come in a cardboard box with NO blister. They feature sounds and the punching action and they are all plastic.
Here are the photos of first wave releases of the 1:55 “Deluxe-Megasize” ones on card. Here, it’s difficult to judge the scale, but they are 1:55 in scale with mostly metal diecast bodies. They’ll come-will come on a hanging blister card much like every other megasize CAR before them and they DO NOT have the punching action.
There should also be an obvious price difference with the 1:55 scale around $7.99 while the the 1:43 scale ones with sounds and punching action are around $14.99.
Hope that helps.
(This is a re-post from yesterday though not a lot of people saw it as our ISP went down so now updated with 1:55 photos and re-posted – we’ll just pretend yesterday did not happen).
I bought the punching Freightning Mcmean, I-Screamer, & Rasta Mater & they’re pretty cool. I like I-Screamer’s music.
these – the larger and less attractive punchin’ versions – have hit the streets here in T.O!!!
Met, Are the 1:55 monster trucks smaller than the punching ones?
(MET: Yes, if you back to SDCC CARS post and look at the photos of the cabinet, you can get some sense of scale next to each other).
No thanks, Mattel, for any oversized/overpriced plastic.
Saw the punchers at Target. Plus, it looks like it’s probably now going to be another 4-6 months regarding new Tokyo Mater cars, since the one with Ito-San is on the shelves. As well, the Final Lap case with Johnny and Jamie doesn’t seem to be moving. They’re overtaking the 3 FL pegs.
I like the Toons and I think the wrestling cars are great, but I will also wait for the 1/55 scale versions. The 1/43 cars look cheap with their unpainted plastic. Probably the worst aspect is that the EYES are stickers as well as the markings. In my opinion, the eyes make the Car.
Punchers are all over my area…don’t really seem to be moving either…especially since they are 14.99
I think I’ll pass on most Cars Toon stuff, but not all. I’m so glad the Cars Toon stuff isn’t apart of the Cars the Movie stuff. In the 2009 guide, the # system was thought to end at 110 (Whitewalls McQ), and the Toons were at first thought to pick up and continue the numbers. They may have made more Cars Movie stuff, but then there’d be gaps in the #s. I’m glad they’re seperate for 2 reasons: The #’s, and, if they weren’t I’ll bet they’d be the only things on the shelves and no more Cars the Movie Stuff until they’re gone. And Toons would be mixed w/ them. Lastly, I don’t consider them apart of the line. To me they’re seperate from Cars just like the minis were. The Toons are starting to look like minis to me, and I get a feeling they may suffer the same fate. I think the Toons were made just so Disney, Pixar, and Mattel could make more stuff and more money. Also, Toons are in everything. From collector guides to exclusives to carrying cases, they’re everywhere.
A very nice to see a new CARS item I can TOTALLY walk right past. Along with the color changers..
I’m so getting the diecast ones!
Are these numbered with the regular MTTs? Looks like it… man…. :_( They should have created it own line & numbering system. Man… it’s going to suck having gaps in the line … 🙁 Even if they are diecast and 1:55, I would still pass on them… they are just…ugh 🙁
A NW Houston Target had the “Smack Down Sounds/Power Punch Action” plastic ones in the reset.
Q: When will they stop these?
A: The second movie, they will be Cars Shorts, not Cars Toon.
LOL I never bought any of the Cars Toon items.
I saw the McQueen one yesterday. Plastic with stickers for decals. I’ll pass.
I know what flavor I want! I-Screamer in 1:55 scale!!! 🙂
Oh, alright, I’ll take Dr. Feel Bad, The Tormentor, Rasta Carian, Frightening McMean………oh, just give me all of them!
Something tells me you probably won’t have a hard time finding these on the pegs so you’ll be in luck.
I want those in 1:55 scale too!
A Kmart in New Mexico had the plastic ones with price stickers for 9.99 even though the tag on the peg said 14.99.
We are definitely waiting for the 1:55 bad boys!!! These are AWESOME!!! 😀
I agree!!
I’m with you! The 1:55 ones look awesome! I’ll take those! The punching ones look like something that Fisher Price would make.
I think I will pass altogether……
First! Anyway, pass. They’re plastic, and too expensive. I’ll get the 1:55 ones when they’re out.
