Disney Pixar CARS: Boom Comics – Allen Gladfelter Personal Custom Cover! LAST DAY – SDCC!
Allen Gladfelter, the artist who has illustrated all the Boom Studios CARS Comics so far is personally designing and drawing a CUSTOM CARS COMIC cover – yours FREE with a purchase of the CARS Comic Book blank variant #7 available only at SDCC! LAST DAY Today!
Allen just doesn’t just randomly draw you something but will spend serious time sketching and illustrating the CARS character Β cover of your choice!
So, it takes a little time and of course, while Allen is scheduled to be there all day – he is going to need to take a break or two so be patient …
Other artists at the Boom Studio booth are offering the same services for the line they work on (Muppets, Toy Story).
This is a special one he finished up … he was working on another cool one but I didn’t want to spoil it in case it was a surprise … you can also check out the iPhone video … it might’ve made more sense to shoot in landscape view but I was weak from hunger … and a special hi to the TakeFiver’s who made a literal death defying drive through the Las Vegas’ 120 degrees heat crammed in a car driven by a man who was sure that the red car up ahead was no mirage and it was Lightning McQueen … if only he could get his car up to 130 MPH …
It was great fun to meet them all – hope to see you all next year!
Hi y’all! I was really happy to see all of you who stopped by for a sketch or to just say hello. I wish I could have drawn faster and better, but I did my level best to keep the kids happy. Over the course of the weekend, I drew nearly 200 of those babies, 95% of which were Maters and McQueens! Not that I mind, it’s just interesting to note the variety that people request. But most of all, I was just happy to be there. It’s a privilege, it really is!
As far as doing some special order covers, I’m not totally against it, however, I do have comics to draw, and I must make that my priority. A week at San Diego is a week not drawing comics, and that means that I have some catching up to do. The thing to do, I think, is to note that I will be probably attending Fan Expo at the end of August, and NYCC whenever that is this year, and THOSE are the best times and places to track me down, or get a friend to track me down, to have me do the cover sketch thing for you.
Thanks again! I’m really excited for all that we’re going to be doing with Cars this year, and I think you will be too!
I love when this site has a celebrity in the house! π
Thanks Allen!
Allen, it was great to meet you!!! It was amazing to watch you draw the covers free hand. . . I am not sure I could even attempt a straight line without a ruler π And those pieces of art my friend bought from you were stunning! Thanks for coming to SDCC. I am a huge fan of your art!
As far as driving goes MET, our driver was good. . .but that drive from Vegas to SD was KILLER!!!!! BOOOORING, worse than driving through the dakotas (sorry Samuel!). I continually got razzed for how many times I nodded off and hit my head on the window, LOL. We did get a photo of the spedometer matching the temperature of 106 π The scary thing was. . people were passing US! We even passed a cop who didn’t blink an eye. . . and I thought Montanan’s drove fast. . . π
All the trouble was WELL worth it!
(MET: Next year, skip that drive! See you all in 2011!)
Hey allen!! thanks for taking the time to post here!! π i really appreciated you doing those covers for me! and i got my AWESOME artwork home with no wrinkles.. with the exception of our crazy driver (hehe) slamming on the breaks one time which caused them to fly and crash into the front seat.. good thing i bought the protector you told me to!! π and im TOTALLY going to get more in the future i hope! π
I got one today and asked for Lizzie. Allen said it was the only Lizzie request he had.
Not everyone is/was behaving at SDCC:

Getting stabbed with a pen at a comic convention…..priceless.
One thing that security did at the opening of SDCC on Wednesday was walk in front of the crowds to slow people down from running INTO the main hall.
That helped from getting trampled
I was in hall H when this happened. Really upset me. The remaining panels were short as a result and those panels were the big ones people were waiting for. If you are worried about people sitting too close to you then comic con is not the place to go. Invasion of your personal space is a given. The guy was lucky. He only ended up with a scratch. His glasses protected his eyes. Who knows what would have happened if he was not wearing them. The pen cracked his glasses. I just cannot believe someone was stupid enough to think that stabbing a person with a pen was justified because the guy was sitting too close to him.
WOW I wish I would have known he was doing this. I would have had someone pick one up for us.
Met did do a post….
heh π
Yea that heat in the desert wasnt fun….. on the way back home a tractor trailer caught fire and they shut the freeway down for a bit.
Allen did a autograph for me in gold ink for an overseas buyer on the hardcover Cars book, thanks Allen!!!
Mr. T,
Just for sport, for sport only π …………………………..
Wow, this is amazing stuff! Allen has done such great work on the Cars series. Also, finally we see a Transberry Juice with the headlight decals in the right place.

Ladies & Gentlecars,
Allen’s no sloutch but I like my Car’s sketches better π Hope you are all well………………
Is that you tooting your own horn Mr. Martin?? π
Martin:
SDCC was just not the same without you bud.
I did feel that the Cars display was lacking something.
The 1-8th scale 1966 Batmobile was HOT baby….
Great to hear from you, Martin… Any chance we can get you back where you belong for the Cars 2 diecast vehicles?
Martin! I wish I could have met you this year at SDCC. I was so bummed that I didn’t make it last year when you were there signing the Rescue Sets. You are an amazing artist and will always been a huge part of the Cars line, no matter what. Thanks for everything you have given it!
agreed!! π
