Thinking of The Salazar Family and Your Help …
Rick & the Salazar’s have always been great T5 members – always sending along photos and finds – it was terribly to hear of his Mrs. Salazar passing on in a terrible automobile accident that also involved their kids. Here is Rick’s note to everyone.
“Thank you all for your well wishes. all my family loves CARS. my wife, GRISELDA, was a huge supporter of our CARS collection as she was a fan herself. i would routinely show them your site for CARS news and they enjoyed it, especially when you posted some of the pics of our trip to the pixar exhibit in monterrey, mexico.
attach find some pictures. some where there at the exhibit with my wife and 2 boys, and another with me with them as well. another is at our wedding with our daughter celeste (cely) who required hip/pelvis surgery. she is currently rehabilitating in monterrey with my wife’s sister. she will probably stay there with her to live. she is almost 15 years old now and she loves monterrey. i have no legal rights over her as she is actually my stepdaughter so i lose her as well with this terrible ordeal. there are also 2 very graphic pictures of my youngest son derick who is 3 years old. he was the most critical. he fought so hard to live. he is my inspiration to continue to live and fight for them so the can have a bright future. my other son Dylan, who is almost 5 years old this May 1st, only received a couple of bruises. all 3 are physically healing fast and well. mentally, all 4 of us continue to struggle. with the help of God, Family, and Friends, we hope to someday mentally heal.
it is important for me to note that my wife would always secure our boys in their cars seats. it is this that saved their lives. hope all families out there do the same to prevent a worst tragedy from happening to them. research crash test results prior to purchasing a vehicle, do routine vehicle maintenance, and purchase life insurance. i did not have life insurance and since the accident happened in Mexico, my US vehicle insurance won’t cover it.
all support and help in any way shape or form is warmly welcomed. all i really ask is for all of you to keep us in your prayers.

While Rick alluded to the photos of his son in the his note, they are quite shocking and terrible but thankfully he is recovering and that his spirit is so strong – so I will just put up the photos of happier times for the family.

As with the Malynn Family in Australia I couldnt just stand by and let our extended family here NOT know that one of our own HONEST traders was going through such pain.
I have sent this information to The France Forum and carsthetoys and hopefully we get to help an honest trader get through the next few weeks and over the next year, rehab for the stepdaughter isnt to rough.
I saw the pictures of his son and I will have to say…. Oh MY Goodness

I am saddened to hear of the loss of your wife Rick. I am glad to hear that you are holding it together and I will keep you and your kids in my prayers. I have been in a situation where I have lost a loved one and it hurts…and you arent alone. Many have been and are in the very situation that you are in. but I was able to recover with support from my family and I am sure that you will make it through this tragedy Physically, financially and emotionally. and this is a very bold reminder to all of us that life is precious. Dont take any minute for granted. Again, I will keep you and kids in my prayers. Remember that here at t5aday, we care for you and your family, and we are all hurting with you.

It is easy for some people to wonder why people like us are “obsessed” about a movie like CARS – watching it over and over, spending money on toys that will break or fade with time.
After hearing about the tragic loss of this family and the daily courage it takes to heal and live despite all of this, it is easy to understand this obsession. Sure, it is a movie, but it is a movie that is a family experience, one where I sit with my son and we laugh at lines he’s memorized, where he joyfully tells me what is happening (“ ‘Oh, yeah,’ Daddy! The blimp says, ‘Oh, yeah’ in the sky!”). It is a bonding experience driving all over town on a Sunday afternoon looking for the elusive car.
Cars are played with, and the movie is watched and re-watched. Sometime in the future, once he’s grown, he might even forget about them and his obsession. Even so, the time I spend with him watching the film, reading the books, and shopping for cars is instilled in his mind; it is a part of who he is. It is not only about the metal but about the memory of a shared experience and a common love: my son loves cars; I love my son.
Even in the face of a personal, family tragedy, Rick remembers his extended CARS family. So, each one of us who lives and loves with our sons, daughters, husbands, wives, friends, and other family members grieves a little with you. In our lives things break and our strongest feelings sometimes dull with time; even so, our memories of love and happier times are alive always.

This is such a sad tragedy but your willpower and positivity in these hard times are a lesson to us all. I have learned of more details about the last few weeks for this family, and I have truly been affected by this story. It has moved me personally, and I have seen a fair amount of stories of families and children in need.
Fortunately, most of us will never know or even begin to be able to understand what this family is experiencing.
This family has been through a horrific tragedy, and can use any bit of hope that we can help give. Hug your loved ones, and never take today for granted, or that you will be able to share tomorrow.
