This is why Mattel keeps doing what they are doing with their uninteresting case contents. Everyone on this site seems to be in agreement that there is nothing interesting in this case, but then everyone rushes to buy them anyway. I really don’t understand…

When I saw that you were all ordering I got really scared about the international email setup and have just ordered a case at 14:12 on Monday afternoon here in Ireland. The $5 off worked and it all took two minutes to complete. This Dev guy is a star as is Rob (my5kids) who allowed me to ship the case to his address. I wish I had found this site before I spent so much on ebay!

Wow, glad I was in no rush to get these. What chaos. Then again, what do you expect? There aren’t really any new cars in the case anyway, so no point in pre-ordering for me: I am glad that the people who got them were able to, but sounds like it was pretty interesting. Surprised it actually worked at all.
I finally got my cases in my cart, but I’m getting an error when I try to check out.

Kmart in Australia is very hit or miss. I’ve never seen any ‘Kmart Day Cars’ in a store here. That is until about a week ago when I asked a guy if there was stock out the back and he bought out an unopened case of K-mart cars from last year! So it seems our system is just like the US, there is no system!.

Don’t forget that these cases CAN be returned to a Kmart store….so if something’s amiss, take it up with the local store. Just make sure you take along a printed copy of your Kmart.com order, especially if you don’t receive a copy with the case.
Well I’m not sure how many went through, but it seemed to work on one out of 3 computers in the house (just like last time). Also, the kmart5off50 worked each time as well. Tip for a lot people. My IE wouldn’t work on checkout. I switched to Firefox, and made it through in a jif. My case is ordered.

Excluding kids is a double edged sword. On the one hand if a parent shows up with 5 or 6 kids and they keep getting picked I can see why some folks that aren’t necessarily Ebayliens might get upset at not getting a chance to get some of the harder to find items. On the other hand we want to make it a fun event for the kids as well. No matter what you do there will be somebody unhappy.

Hey, if a kid’s really collecting for himself, and he gets excited at finding new ones, he has as much right to the cars as any of us. Plus, they often pick a lot of Lightning McQueen’s. 🙂 But I have seen dealers having their kids pick out certain rare ones. That’s where there’s a problem.

I talked to an employee at my local Kmart yesterday who is 1 of the 2 that ran the event last time and will be running it again this time. He mentioned that kids would not be allowed to participate anymore. Only adults 18 years and older due to too many complaints. Is this official nationwide or is it local store policy only? Can they do that if it is not official as per the event rules? It is a great experience for many kids and I would hate for them to have to miss out on the fun of the event due to complaints of scalpers. Met, Dev any info on this???

That is not true. Kids are welcome at this event. I will be bringing both of my kids. I have a copy of the Cars Collector Event Store Brochure from the October Event and it reads as follows:
• Handout tickets at the commencement time and place of the event to everyone that is able to pick out their selection without any help from another person. There is NO age restriction.
Also under Frequently Asked Questions, it reads:
Who should receive a Raffle Ticket?
• Ticket should be given to each person that is able to select their own cars, without any help from another person. This should apply to both children and adult collectors with NO age restriction.
Please spread the word. Can’t wait for the Kmart Event.
They may end up with trouble about the “everyone that is able to pick out their selection without any help” if there is someone who is handicapped, such as a quadriplegic, or vision impairment, or a developmentally disabled person who requires an aide. But I would be very surprised if they didnt let someone help them.

Glad I rushed home – I should have known better! Website says 5PM CDT, which is 3PM my time (So Cal). At which point I’m sure the site will be crashing again! I would go to the event, but we just had our second child on Tuesday (girl!; it would be me and my 3 yr old son, and he’s hard enough to wrangle without having to wait for our number to be called. Sigh!
