BAD A$$ TRUCKS!!!!!! Love them, squeeze them and name them george!!
So which racers will be the first to have a complete pit crew and hauler.
Mattel just dribbles them out, like Easy Idle pitty, Easy Idle launcher, but no crew chief or hauler. Same with Nitroade. Keep dragging it out Mattel. ugh.
I guess RPM will be the first complete set? I need to look back at Mets post with the releases.
Leakless! Leakless had the Pit crew 3 pack and now has a hauler.

Yeah, I wasn’t really counting McQ since I was really thinking more of the team pit crews, but yeah, McQueen with pit crew doc, Mac and Guido.
I would like for Mattel to do a fourth body style pitty and then go ahead and do pitty 4 packs for all the teams.

hay, off topic i know, but…
i was thinking about this the other day…
i saw story tellers brand new mater and wondered why they didnt release him correctly, or why they havnt corrected him yet…
(its regular teal mater with hood, on the packaging and in the book he has no hood, for most of it anyway)
also…what other cars have been released incorrect and which have been corrected?
only ones i can remember are red rims doc, mario andrettis tires and darrell cartrips clown mouth…oh…and LMQs spoiler.

(MET: He’s just stating a basic human need in our hierarchy of needs – after McMansion Shelter, a 4×4, gourmet food, electricity, blistering internet and CARS – ME WANTEE … besides, that works much better at the toy store and not so much at the local watering hole on a Friday night … 🙂 but maybe I’m just saying it wrong).

Yeah I can’t wait to find this one in the wild. Great pics of the haulers and glad I decided to jump on that train as they really look great.
Not that I’m not already collecting these haulers, of course, but if I had any doubts about getting them, these pictures sure would change my mind. GREAT pictures, Met!!!
BTW, looks like they’ve used the same hauler type for Mack and Chick’s hauler (see the two “bumps” on top), but every hauler after that has another type (no “bumps”). Anyone know why that is? Was it like that in the movie too?

No, the Mack hauler and Chick haulers are NOT the same.
Lightning’s trailer only opens at the rear door, with a slide-out ramp.
Chick’s trailer is the more common “sides flip open” design that most of the haulers have come out like.
Look closely, you’ll see that the Chick trailer has hinges, the Mack trailer does not.
I wasn’t talking about the way they open, but thank you for playing. I was merely wondering why those two haulers have the two “bumps” on their roof, while the others do not. Met explained a long time ago that they all open in different ways.

I wonder if they discontinued putting them up there because they were interfering with the graphics on the top?? Just my hypothesis… That or save $0.02 per hauler….. 🙂
My bet would be that those bumps, simulating roof vents I would guess, were found to interfere with the operation of the “gullwing” doors on those haulers starting with Chick. Dinoco hauler was probably the first to “lose” those vents in it’s design, but since they’re all molded in their respective colors, Chick hauler has yet to be corrected.
Sound plausible? That’s my theory and I’m stickin’ to it.
The bumps are air conditioners. I guess some teams had more budget than others.
They were not “discontinued” if you look at the pics of Mood Springs and Sidewall Shine.
Maybe Mattel will make variants (with and without)?

So would a 1:55 scale Speedway of the South fit in my backyard? Has anyone ever figured how big that would need to be?
I don’t know on which oval the track from the movie is based, but let’s take Lowe’s Motor Speedway as an example: the front stretch of that track is 1980 feet, so if you want to make it in true 1:55 scale, the front stretch of your model would be 36 feet long. That would fit in my backyard! 🙂 However, if you take Bristol Motor Speedway, which is a short oval, the front stretch is 650 feet, so your model would only need 11.8 feet for the front stretch in that case. Anyone got room in their basement?
(MET: I believe Speedway of the South is based on Lowe’s so 36 feet it is! 🙂 ).
It does look a lot like Bristol. More high banked oval than tri oval like Lowe’s, which the name is going to be changed when the contract is up. How about TakeFiveaDay Motor Speedway! 😉
